The Belleville Police Services Board is accepting applications for DEPUTY CHIEF OF POLICE Belleville is home to approximately 50,000 people with a regional population estimate of 96,000. Just over 200,000 live within 30 minutes of the City. Belleville offers elegant living in rural and urban settings with commercial and public services, arts and culture, recreation, employment, education services as well as retail and the region’s largest hospital. The City is well serviced by a wide variety of transportation services. The City maintains over 500 acres of parkland at 55 locations throughout the community and 26 kilometres of hiking/cycling trails meander along the Bay of Quinte or Moira River. Belleville plays host to numerous festivals and events that take place throughout the year. Belleville is home to Loyalist College, Albert College, OHL Belleville Bulls and is the gateway to Prince Edward County. The Deputy Chief of Police reports to the Belleville Police Services Board through the Chief of Police. The Deputy Chief will be responsible for implementing the objectives, priorities, policies and procedures established by the Chief of Police and the Police Services Board through the business planning process. Community mobilization, engagement and a focus on a pro-active/risk-focused model of policing are priorities for the Board. The Belleville Police Services Board is seeking a highly experienced and ethical individual with extensive knowledge of Police operations and best practices. The incumbent will have demonstrated leadership skills within a Police organization. The ability to foster partnerships with Belleville Police Service members, all levels of government, community agencies and groups, and the community at large is vital. Change management, decision making, ethical accountability, financial management, human resource management, public safety, public accountability and strategic management are required competencies for the position of Deputy Chief to meet the future needs of the community.
