HISTORIC BALTIMORE ALBUM - BLOCK OF THE MONTH
We are well on our way in this series of classes on the Baltimore
Album quilts but you still have time to jump in! This is a series of 10
classes focusing on the techniques and skills you need to have in
order to make your very own Baltimore Album quilt. While many of
the students are working on an historic pattern from the 1840-1850
period, others are doing modern interpretations of the style. Join us on
this adventure to learn the history of these beautiful quilts and a little
about the lives of their makers. This is an intermediate/advanced
appliqué class so prior knowledge of hand needleturn appliqué is
required.
**Any 'veterans' of Leslie's previous Baltimore Album block of the
month classes are entitled to return for this new cycle at a reduced
fee, space permitting.
Sat. June 6, July 11, Aug. 1 (future dates to be announced) 9:30-12:30
Class fee for the remaining 7 classes is $140 ($70 for veterans)
MAGGIE WALKER AND MORE-BLOCK OF THE MONTH
We have been working on our Maggie Walker quilts for several years
now and, while we are well on our way through our series of 8 classes
for 2015, you still have time to jump in! In addition to Maggie
Walker's designs we now invite you to work on any intermediate/
advanced level hand appliqué project of your choice. Join Leslie,
Maggie's principal appliqué stitcher, as she shares her 'tricks of the
trade' and guides you through your very own advanced appliqué quilt!
Each month she will present a new skill or technique that you will
need to complete your project. Prior knowledge of hand needleturn
appliqué is required.
**Any 'veterans' of Leslie's previous Maggie Walker block of the
month classes are entitled to return for this new cycle at a reduced
fee, space permitting.

cabin blocks made with the 6" Curvy
Log Cabin Trim Tool. Using a

you can sew these marvelous swirls for
your own! Leslie used batiks but you
could use brights, reproductions or any
collection you prefer - scraps are
welcome here! There is also an 8"
Curvy Log Cabin Trim Tool if you would like to make larger blocks
and, therefore, a larger quilt! The tool will make sure your blocks
come out to the perfect size every time!

PEPPERMINT TWIST - BEGINNING NEEDLETURN
APPLIQUE
Leslie is showing you this design from Jo Morton in Civil War
reproduction pink and brown fabrics and in bright batiks. All to
prove to you that good patterns stand the test of time! Join Leslie in
learning the needleturn method of hand appliqué, stems using bias
bars and perfect (no kidding!) circles. We will start from scratch so
beginners are welcome as is anyone who would like to brush up on
their appliqué skills or gain some more experience.
***Note about this pattern: A lovely appliqué block is in the center
of the quilt surrounded by miniature Churn Dash blocks. You may
take just the appliqué part of this pattern. However, if you choose to
finish the quilt with the sawtooth borders and Churn Dash blocks,
you are welcome to take the Churn Dash Miniature class described
below at a $10 discount. Contact Leslie if you have any questions.

PEPPERMINT TWIST - CHURN DASH MINIATURE
Now is your chance to try working in miniature with a sawtooth
border and 4" Churn Dash blocks! While this pattern would be a
wonderful hand-piecing opportunity, we will be using our trusty
sewing machines! You will need a selection of light, medium and
dark fabrics (have any fat quarter bundles around that you may have
picked up and didn't know what to do with?) with a single setting
square fabric. See Leslie's sample in pink and brown Civil War
reproduction fabrics but you can just imagine it in bright batiks or
any of your other favorite fabrics.
***Note about this pattern: You will notice that there is an appliqué
block in the center of this quilt. It is easily replaced by 4 more churn
Dash blocks if appliqué is not your thing. However, if you do want
to try hand appliqué or are just looking for a fun block to stitch, join
us for the Peppermint Twist - Beginning Needleturn Appliqué class
described above. If you take both classes, you will get a $10 discount
on the churn Dash Miniature class. Contact Leslie if you have any
questions.

Smith of 'From my heart to your hands' - specifically using halfsquare triangles and flying geese. Leslie thought you might enjoy
making another 12" square quilt, this time based on the log cabin
block. Pull out your scraps and leftovers and we'll have this little
gem done in no time! It will be a great addition to your little Quilt
Squares collection!
