stenciled tablecloth
DIRECTIONS:
1. Hem fabric for tablecloth if not using ready-made tablecloth.
2. Refer to photo often for help in placement of stenciled design.
3. Pre-wash tablecloth to remove sizing in fabric. Do not use fabric softener in washer or dryer. Dry and iron.
4. Use Cricut Expression™ machine with Accent Essential cartridge to create the stencil templates.
5. The border design shown used border on page 80 of cartridge booklet. Set the dial size at 3". Use the shift
key. The flower is on page 50. The dial size is set at 5". Do not use the shift key.
6. Lay out the tablecloth and cut as many flowers and borders pieces as needed to go around the entire edge.
Use the cut pieces to lay out the pattern. Tape in place. The sheets of cardstock with the pattern pieces
removed are the stencils that will be used to create the design.
7. Start laying out the flower pieces in each corner and in the center of each side. Use border piece and then
flower piece repeating till next corner. Design can be adjusted by the border piece. Lengthen by moving piece
over to stencil more of the design. Shorten by using tape to cover the stencil portion not being used.
8. Before starting to stencil, protect work surface under tablecloth with paper or plastic.
Tips: Test stencil skills on old tablecloth before starting project. This technique helps hide spots on old tablecloths.
9. To stencil, wet Spouncers™ and wring out well. Follow with paper towel. Apply fabric paint on Spouncers™
sparingly. If using acrylic paint, mix with textile medium following manufacturer’s directions. Always start
along the edge on stencil and work inward. Secure the stencil to tablecloth with tape. Tape off along the
border edge so the paint doesn’t seep over the edge of stencil.
10. When finished, dry and heat set in dryer following manufacturer’s directions.
