THE RULES OF THE AUCTION
General Rules
1. All auction items must be paid in full, unless other arrangements are made prior to the start of the auction.
Payment may be made by cash, check, Visa or Master Card.
2. All sales are final. Refunds will be made on purchased items where there is a failure of performance either on the part
of the Club or on the part of the donor.
3. Please read the restrictions carefully as stated on certificates. Donors will not redeem items for cash; certificates have
no cash value.
4. Unless otherwise noted, all auction items are valid one year from date of the auction (April 25, 2016). It is the buyer’s
responsibility to read and respect expiration dates and restrictions.
5. Items must be removed on auction night. Any auction items that cannot be transported by the owner must be picked
up by 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015, at the Boys & Girls Club of Albany. Items left after Monday may be
subject to a transportation and/or storage fee.
Tax Disclosure
1. IRS disclosure rules require the Boys & Girls Club of Albany to inform you that your purchases will be tax deductible
to the extent that the bid price exceeds the fair market value of the goods or services received.
2. The Boys & Girls Club of Albany will provide you a good-faith estimate of the fair market value of the items you
purchase and a receipt for the amount paid, suitable for tax purposes.
Live Auction
1. The Live Auction consists of voice auctioning of items in the order they appear in this catalog.
2. All bidding at the auction requires a bidder number, obtained when you register.
3. To bid on an item, wave your bid card to attract the auctioneer’s or spotter’s attention.
4. If you win an item, you will be asked to sign a form indicating the item you have agreed to purchase and its purchase
price.
Best Bid Section
1. Best Bids are higher value silent items that will close at various times during the Live Auction.
2. Once these sections have closed, an auction official will circle the winning bid number. No other bidder’s marks will
be accepted.
Silent Auction Sections
1. Silent items are grouped in color-coded categories and close in intervals, most before live auctioning begins.
2. Bid sheets, on or near each Best Bid or Silent Auction item, state a minimum value by which the existing bid may be
increased. If you bid on an item, you MUST include your bidder number. You can return and re-bid as many times as
you wish before the closing of the section.
3. If you really want an item, just write your bid number in the box at the bottom of the sheet marked
“Guaranteed Bid” to ensure your ownership of the item. (Not available in Best Bid Section.)
4. At the close of a section, an auction official will circle the winning bid number, remove the sheets, verify the highest
bid and the bidder number, and deliver the sheets to a cashier to be recorded.
5. At Check-Out, each bidder will be given the total for their items.
If you don’t want to wait in line to pay after the auction, please feel free to come to the Club, Monday, April 27.
