31. International Pentecoast Tournament 2015
TOURNAMENT´s GREETING
OF BG ZEHLENDORF
MITHAT DEMIREL´s
GREETINGS
Dear Basketball Enthusiasts:
Dear players, friends and parents,
The International Zehlendorf Pentecost Tournament is taking place for the 31st time this year.
178 teams with more than 1700 participants have
registered. The large number of registration shows
the tremendous interest in this event.
I onced participated as a player in the International Pentecost Tournament in Berlin - Zehlendorf
and I am pleased to annouce the 31st edition of
the wonderful event. 178 teams will compete and
try to win this tournament in nine different age
categories.
We can thereproud ourselves to be the largest privately
organized basketball tournament in Germany.
Our special thanks go to the many volunteers that
have made this tournament possible in the first
place.
The sanitary facilities in all gyms will be cleaned
by a cleaning company. With this, we are trying to
respond to your feedback from last year.
Moreover, the cafeteria of the JFK School will replace
the „Ratskeller“ and provide food and beverage for
all hungry teams (with Guestcard type A).
We welcome all teams, coaches and accompanying
persons and wish all participantsa successful and
joyful competition without injuries.
Marcus Gehrmann (Tournament Director),
Nima Massarrat-Mashhadi (Tournament Director),
and Maria-Gisela Chlebosz (Club President)
Although my time as a player is over for a long
time, my memories are still fresh and alive: beautiful
weather, relaxed people, a lot of fun, entertainment
and international flair. The Pentecost Tournament
is a popular event for ballers from across Europe to
combine off-season activities, team spirit and
(not so serious) on court competition.
I am optimistic that this year´s tournament edition
will be a big success and push basketball within our
European basketball community.
Best wishes
Mithat Demirel
(Alba Berlin Sports Director & Member of the executive board of the Berlin Basketball Association)
WE WISH TO THANK
• the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district authorities, the
schools in Zehlendorf and Steglitz as well as
their pupils, who helped to carry out this
event by making available their classrooms,
gyms and other school facilities;
• all volunteers of the BG Zehlendorf, and our
neighbouring clubs, whose efforts have made
the smooth running of the tournament
possible;
• as well as the nearly 50 referees, who come

length)
b) The defending players on the ball side
must not sag (deny defense).

d) Only the player in possession of the ball

Adherence to the defense rules is monitored by
the referees:
1) The first violation of these rules by a team

This comment will only be issued when the

reasons. The game will then be continued as
if no offense violation had occurred.
2) The second violation of a team will be
followed by a formal caution from a
referee, who on this occasion threatens any
further violation with a technical foul. This
caution is issued directly when the violation
occurs, unless this would result in a disad
vantage for the offensive team. If a team has
been cautioned, the team in possession of
the ball at the time of the caution will receive
the ball.
3) Any further violation by a team will be follo
wed by a technical foul against the team. The
foul will be marked with the letter ”V” and
written down in the coach’s column. Technical
fouls due to violations of the defense rules
