In this Braque’s work is intertwined with that of his collaborator Pablo Picasso. Along with Cubism, Braque used the styles of Impressionism, Fauvism and collage, and even staged designs for the Ballets Russes. Through his career, his style changed to portray somber subjects during wartime and lighter, freer themes in between. He never strayed far from Cubism, as there were always aspects of it in his works. Photographs touch and shape our lives, decisions and perspective everyday and in so many ways. This lecture will give you the complete “picture” on just how important photography is to all of us. We start in the days of Aristotle where he used a pin hole to view the eclipse, and move through the key moments in photographic history that highlight the great uses and developments in technology. We will look at the primary images that rocked the world, what made them great and discover how our own brain has a “photographic memory bank” that truly defines the concept that picture is worth a thousand words.
