Laminated cotton is just what the name implies–a base of quilting-weight cotton fabric topped by a clear polyurethane coating. The clear coating on the fabric's right side repels moisture, while the cotton backing adds warmth, strength and drape. <USPRLVPSJSV[OSHTPUH[LKJV[[VUPZÅL_PISL UV[Z[PɈHUKOHZUVJOLTPJHSZTLSS0[ZH great choice for baby bibs, aprons, splat mats, placemats, tablecloths, pencil cases, accessory bags, book covers, lunch bags, totes, handbags, pet bowl mats, shower curtains, rain coats, umbrellas, and a lot more. There's no need to prewash laminated cotton; the clear coating prevents shrinkage. To clean, simply wipe the laminated side with a damp cloth. If machine washing becomes necessary, wash on a gentle or delicate cycle and air dry. To avoid creases and wrinkles, roll laminated cotton onto a cardboard tube for shipping or storing. If you must pin, pin only within the seam allowances. Laminates can shift while sewing; clothespins, paper clips, binder clips and even hair clips can be used to temporarily hold layers together. If you have to re-sew a seam, try to follow the exact stitching line to help hide holes, or sew slightly outside the seam line, so that the holes will be hidden in the seam allowance.
