Post Doc and MS Research Fellowships

Post Doc and MS Research Fellowships
We are looking for two highly motivated candidates for Post Doc and MS research fellowships available with the clinical
and translational collaborative research project Next-Gen Cytogenetics Enters Clinical Care and Annotates the Human
Genome, of the Harvard Medical School – Portugal Program.
Scientific Area: Molecular biology, Functional genomics and Bioinformatics.
Required skills and competences:
- Degree in biosciences and a Ph.D. in functional genomics or MS in bioinformatics;
- Experience in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), genomic interactions and or loge-range gene regulation,
establishment of pluripotent cells and in other areas of molecular biology;
- High motivation to overcome difficulties;
- Supervision of graduate students.
Work plan: The project aims to introduce NGS into the detection of genomic or chromosome rearrangements at
nucleotide resolution and to create a high-throughput, sequence-based Next-Gen Cytogenetics. Furthermore, extending
the aim of this project to an understanding of the molecular pathogenesis of these chromosome rearrangementsassociated developmental disorders, using different levels of study and various types of biological materials, will
contribute to an improved prediction of the phenotypic consequences of chromosomal rearrangements.
