Originating from the 18th century, Spode’s Blue Room collection is made up from a medley
of distinctive motifs and patterns, ranging from floral and faunal designs to famous places
and scenery. The blue and white designs made famous by Josiah Spode I, continue to
be produced today, capturing the same authentic Spode blue that was born from the
original process of blue underglaze printing on earthenware from hand engraved copper
plates. The intricate borders, taken from engravings in the Spode archive, give a rich
texture and unique quality to each range, which add to the intrinsic beauty and appeal
that make Blue Room such a treasured collection. The range of dresser plates, mugs and
cups and saucers boasts different shapes and styles, all featuring historical Blue Room
designs and packed in beautiful gift packaging.
