Hera Created By Brandon, Monica, And Abigail Hera is the wife and one of three sisters of Zeus, is the daughter of Rhea and Cronus, And rules over Mount Olympus as Queen. She had five siblings; Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, and Hestia. She was tricked into marrying Zeus, with whom she had six children. Hera being Queen of the Olympians suggests that the Greek people respected women for their beauty, more than what their actually capable of. It also shows that although the men are the high power, women can be the ones behind the scenes and calling the shots Women are more figure peices than actual people in the eyes of a Greek, which is why Zeus is head of the Olympians instead of Hera, even though she is much wiser than he is. ● Queen of the Gods ● protector of marriage and childbirth and a patron of women ● Very jealous of her husband’s lovers ● Hera sought revenge on her husband’s lovers and their children ● One the many lovers of Zeus Hera got revenge on was a Greek princess named Io ● Zeus turned Io into a calf trying to save her from Hera, but Hera asked to have her as a gift. Zeus could not refuse to this. ● As Io remained a calf, Hera sent horseflies to pester her. ● Zeus continued to see Io, but in the shape of a bull ● Zeus soon said he would not pay any more attention to Io so Hera turned her back into a woman.
