Our Test Drive Event in
March was a BIG SUCCESS!
Some of the attendees were
Janome owners, ready to
update their machines while
others were newbies, ready
to “join the family”. I enjoyed spending time with our
enthusiastic guests and I am
looking forward to seeing
everyone in usage classes.
Earlier this month we held a
HMC15000 “Boot Camp”.
This special eight-hour class
provided support for our new
top-of-the-line machine owners. We covered the special
features of the machine as
well as the wireless interface, Horizon Link software,
and the 2 iPad apps.

Thread Painting
This free-motion embroidery technique uses thread and
your ordinary sewing machine to “paint” on stabilized
fabric. In class, you will start simple and small to learn
the basic skills that can be used to create a masterpiece!

Create a “sketchbook” of free-motion quilting motifs
that you can refer to time and time again. Pages are

So...you may not need a checkbook cover, but this a
great opportunity to put your budding serger skills to
task! Decorative thread and rolled hems finish off the
raw edges of your fabric strips. Weave them together to

After taking Quilting Feet & Stitches, the next step in your
quilt making journey is learning the basic techniques of
free-motion quilting. You will be guided through several
beginner exercises and will have plenty of time to polish
your skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Serging Basics
Are you new to serging? Have you had your serger for years but only use it to finish fabric edges? Then this is the class for you! Class begins with a review of
threading and basic operations. Workbook includes the various fabrics needed for
each technique and provides space to mount your samples and record your
settings. You will leave this class with the skills you need to confidently use your
serger for many different projects. Open to all brands and models. Your machine
must be clean and in good working order. 

Learn to Sew: Bridge to Success
There are so many things for a new sewist to learn! Aside from operating a sewing
machine, there are proper pinning, pressing and cutting techniques to name a few.
In this class you will learn all the little techniques that will make a big difference in
the outcome of your projects. This class will also certify you as a “Confident Beginner”, giving you the skills you need to get the most out of your sewing and quilting
classes. 
Introduction to AcuFil
AcuFil is a special quilting accessory for select Janome embroidery machines. This
specialized tool provides an easy way to finish quilt tops in your embroidery hoop.
First we will learn the many uses of the AcuFil Tool, from designing single blocks to
creating stippled layouts. Then we will learn the proper way to hoop with the magnetic AcuFil Hoop.

powerful features of your editing or digitizing
software to create custom designs. We support

These classes are offered to help you learn the functions of your new machine.
You may take them more than once and they are available to you whenever you need a refresher.
Machine usage classes are FREE if you purchased your machine from the Sewing Center of Santa Fe.
Class Schedule is subject to change. Please try to book your space at least one week in advance.
BASIC USAGE
This class is first in the series of usage classes. You’ll learn about needles & threads,
bobbin winding & threading, basic stitches and maintenance of your machine.
Please unpack your machine before coming to class.
