Masters Month
April is Masters month! The Masters will
be held April 9th-12th. The Masters is my
favorite of the 4 majors to watch on TV. It
is on my bucket list one of these years to
go to Augusta and watch it in person.

We opened the golf course on March 11th
April 1st 2015
this year which is the 2nd earliest on record. Nobody picked the correct date of
March 11th (high of 63 degrees) in the
course opening date contest. Gar Henriksen won the contest by predicting March
12th at 51 degrees and Doug Lund placed
2nd by picking March 10th at 50 degrees.
It is nice to get off to an early golf season
as this really helps our sales. I am hoping
April brings more nice weather.
Congrats to Tim Jorgenson from Brandon
who had our first hole in one of the year
already on Monday, March 30th! He aced
#13. It is only the 3rd hole in one in BGC
history in March. Bonnie Christiansen
(2004) and Chris Terveer (2009) are the
only other 2 golfers to do it in March.
We will talk again in May!

Andrew’s Golf Tip
Now that the 2015 season is rolling
it’s time to start making more putts!
The two main factors in putting are
speed and line; here’s a tip to help you
hit the ball on line more consistently.
Since the greens are not rolling at a
customary speed right now it is a good
time to work on hitting putts on line.
One way to do this is to let your left
hand (right hand if you’re a lefty!) control the stroke. If you let that hand
direct you to your target, without
breaking down, you will hit putts on
your intended line more often. A good
drill is to practice putting crosshanded, with the left hand below the
right hand on the grip. This will teach
you to let that hand guide your stroke.
You might even find that it’s a better
grip for you and you can use it on the
course, like I do! Try this out and sink
more putts in April!

Superintendent’s Corner
As I prepare for the next couple
of months I reflect back on what
we have accomplished as a team
so far. We have replaced white
flags with red, white, and blue
flags. We fixed one of the
pumps in the pump house that
was destroyed from the flood
last year. Also, we have a majority of the course cleaned up.
Seniors we have a special surprise for you coming out this
week.
As we swing into the core golf
season we are excited to see
everyone enjoying the golf
course. The nice days we have
had, have been busy, so try to
help out and wish on great
weather.
Irrigation is on.. We had a leak
