MASSIVE DEFORMATION BANDS
ASSOCIATED WITH
SINGLE DETACHMENT PLANES
Zone of interest
All of these well locations and depths correspond to official fault
previously interpreted as individual faults. Our 3-D analysis
indicates that these fault cut-outs are on a few low angle planes
Low angle reverse faults associated with the general folding
Stylolite seam
Horsetail stylolite seams
Note the fairly constant thickness of the deformation band
Systematic features
-Oil bearing porous sands
-Very sharp boundary
-Quartz cemented tight sands
-Slickenside lower boundary
The cored well shows diagenetically altered
sandstones regularly spaced.
The selected photos show the systematic
existence of a slickenside below a tight
sandstone with prominent quartz cement.
Dissolution features are common and
includes stylolites and horsetail stylolites.
