Sensing Technology
Smoke Alarm Sensing Technology
Improved performance less complication!
Large sensing chamber increases
stability and alarm accuracy.
Thermoptek is the smoke alarm technology
of choice for UK Fire and Rescue Services.
Two sensors provide heat readings,
to enable early warning of fire.
It provides an alternative to using separate
ionisation and optical alarms; for detection
of fast flaming and slow smouldering fires
in a single alarm.
Thermoptek technology combines the very
latest in optical sensing with a thermal
enhancement. It constantly monitors for
temperature change, and if a sudden
temperature rise is detected the
sensitivity of the alarm is increased.
This provides a much faster reaction
to both fast flaming and slow
smouldering fires in a single alarm.
Unlike ionisation technology,
Thermoptek technology has no
storage or disposal issues relating
to radioactive materials.
Precision optical sensors

Thermistek technology constantly monitors for
temperature change. If a temperature increase is
detected, and predicted to exceed an alarm trigger
threshold, the alarm will sound.

Wireless Technology
Wi-Safe 2
Intelligent wireless
communication with any
other product with Wi-Safe 2
technology inside.
Closed network
Unique identity codes (16 million different combinations)
are hard coded into the memory of the network upon
interlinking so they will be retained, even if the mains
is turned off and the battery discharges.
Alarms cannot be triggered by wireless products such
as doorbells, cordless phones etc. due to the Wi-Safe 2
encryption, and the EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility)
testing / compliance.
Wi-Safe 2 will not be compatible with
competitors products.
Create a perfectly tailored system to suit the changing
needs of the property or the tenants
The radio
frequency band
of the Wi-Safe 2
is 868 MHz.
The system can be adapted if the requirements for the
individual change. Additional smoke, heat, CO and deaf
alert accessories can be added or removed at anytime.
Wi-Safe 2 provides flexible wireless solutions for
both hardwired and battery systems.
Up to 50 alarms can be interlinked for maximum coverage.
Test and locate from anywhere in the home
The alarm control unit can be added to any
Wi-Safe 2 network.
Wi-Safe 2 simplifies installation
Wi-Safe 2 products can be linked together in a matter
of seconds with a simple two step connection
process. Eliminating the time and expense of
channelling wiring around a building.
Meshed network
In a meshed network, each unit can communicate
with any other alarm in the network (it does not
have to be directly in range). Units are constantly
transmitting and receiving a radio frequency signal.
Any danger, reported by every alarm
When an alarm detects smoke, heat or CO, all
alarms and accessories in the network will
sound. This means that you are alerted
anywhere in the property.
Each unit will make a differentiated
sound pattern for either a smoke / heat
or CO incident.

Sensing Technologies Explained
Sensor Types
Thermally Enhanced Optical
Traditionally optical smoke alarm sensitivity
can change with ambient temperature that is
the sensitivity in winter will be different than
the sensitivity in summer. Thermal enhancement
removes this variance by making slow adjustment
to the sensitivity settings dependent upon
background temperature.
Thermoptek technology combines the latest
in optical sensing technology with a thermal
enhancement system which provides the fastest
reaction to all fire types in a single alarm.
Ionisation
Ionisation technology is generally more sensitive
than optical technology at detecting small particles
of smoke which tend to be produced in greater
amounts by fast flaming fires which consume
combustible materials rapidly and spread quickly.
Sources of these fires may include paper burning
in a wastebasket or chip pan fires.
Thermistek heat detection technology constantly
monitors for temperature change. If a dangerous rate
of rise in the temperature is detected, and predicted to
exceed an alarm trigger threshold (54 to 65 degrees),
the alarm will sound. This predictive quality provides
a much quicker response to fast flaming fires. Heat
alarms with Thermistek technology are approved to
class A1.
Electrochemical CO Sensing
Thermistor
Electrochemical technology is an accurate and
proven method of sensing CO. Our patented sensor
protects against leakage - the most common failure
of other sensors.
Alarms with Thermistor sensors will activate
when the temperature reaches the pre-set range
of 54°C to 70°C.
All CO alarms are 100% tested and calibrated using
carbon monoxide during the manufacturing process.
Smart Silence
Sleep Easy
‘Smart Silence’ technology allows the user to silence
the alarm for up to 10 minutes in the event of a known
false alarm. After 10 minutes the alarm shall return to
full sensitivity. During these 10 minutes, if additional
heat / smoke is detected the alarm silence will be
overridden and the alarm will sound.
A low battery ‘chirp’ can be silenced for a period of
8 hours by pressing the test button. After this period
the audible chirp will start again. This process can be
repeated for a maximum of 10 times. The alarm will
still detect heat /smoke during this time, however the
alarm must be replaced within 30 days. A chirp which
indicates a fault cannot be silenced.

Solutions for:
Boiler Shut-Off
Positioning of CO Alarms & Control Unit
The noCO boiler shut off system provides the highest level of protection against CO.
In the event of a CO leak the noCO wireless alarm will sound and automatically send a signal to the
boiler shut down control unit to shut off the boiler. The boiler will then need a Gas Safe registered boiler
engineer to restart it, ensuring the tenant is fully protected while the cause of CO is investigated.
