BRANCH Founded by Oscar Farinetti, Eataly is a chain of
food markets and restaurants which
specialises in Italian food typified by extreme
quality.
Security personnel have been trained to make the most of
the many features and capabilities of the system, making
evidence gathering a simple, speedy process.
Eataly's first store was opened in Turin in 2007, with a goal
of introducing a new way of distributing high quality
agricultural products, inspired by themes such as
sustainability, responsibility and sharing.

From day one, Eataly has differentiated itself from the
simple catering market. Distinguished by the search for
quality products hard to find elsewhere, and above all
affordable to all.
Like most businesses, Eataly requires a security system.
They wanted the system to offer:
• Protection against theft
• Create a safe environment for customers and service
personnel
• To meet the insurance requirements
• A reduced time to service
• Improve the activities related to the 'business' and the
service to customers
When assessing the requirements for a new security system
the main priorities were protection from theft and ensuring
the system fitted in to the harmony of the store, by being
both easy to use and aesthetically pleasing. They chose a Panasonic system for the Milan store at Piazza
Venticinque Aprile. Eataly implemented a system based on IP
technology which, thanks to the high definition and easy to
manage security interface, saves time in the search and
identification of theft, by managers and heads of security
incidents within the store. A network in excess of 40 cameras was installed by AS
Engineering, supported technically by Sicurit Alarmitalia.
These include the following models:
WV-SF135, HD IP cameras Dome
35 of the cameras installed are the WV-SF135, which offers
HD quality images and a wide range of functions in a
compact frame.
Thanks to the new MOS sensor, the camera offers 720p HD
images with multi-stream H.264 and JPEG.
Day / Night functionality means the camera is suitable to be
used in any condition and is ideal for a wide range of
applications.
WV-SW355, fixed dome network camera
The WV-SF135 network fixed dome camera uses an HD 1.3megapixel MOS sensor and H.264 compression. It able to
provide multiple streams either H.264 or JPEG, to ensure
simultaneous real time monitoring and high resolution
recording to the LSI platform owned by Panasonic.
The WV-SW355 guarantees full frame transmission, up to 30
fps at 1280x960p, as well as H.264 streams at 720/30p HD
and 16:9 ratio. It includes an easy to use Day/Night function
which operates down to 0.3 lux in colour and 0.02 lux in
black and white. In addition, you can select the control mode
of the light by changing the electronic shutter to outdoor,
indoor or fixed.

The Milan branch also installed the WV-SF438, a device that
combines the best of technology with high levels of
reliability.
A full HD, fixed dome 360° camera, the WV-SF438 offers a
wide range of picture modes: Dual, landscape, 4 square PTZ,
PTZ single screen, Fisheye and quad stream.
The camera has Intelligent Resolution technology and Mega
Super Dynamic functionality to provide unprecedented
surveillance. The first allows you to automatically detect
three different areas - outlines, detailed texture areas and
soft gradation areas - and execute optimal processing of the
signal for each area - reducing the overall image size.
In addition, to uniformly improve the sharpness, the Mega
Super Dynamic functionality performs pixel by pixel signal
processing, in the most effective way. As a result, images
are naturally clear and defined. The camera also has face
detection, making faces of both wanted and unwanted guests
easily identifiable.
Benefits and Conclusions
Eataly has a 10 point manifesto, number three is that by
creating and offering the best products, we improve our own
lives, and bring added value to yours.
This philosophy is closely aligned to that of Panasonic. The
distinct characteristics of individual solutions, ease of use
and installation and finally, the many features, allow
security personnel at Eataly, to achieve a high level of safety
and the best possible service.
