Richardson said in a letter to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund, which was set up by Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley to provide financial support for the families’ funeral expenses, that $10,000 should go to each of the families of the nine victims. The final $10,000 is to go to the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, the site of the shooting, “as a memorial honoring the victims.” A copy of the letter was uploaded to Twitter by Bakari Sellers, a former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives. Panthers spokesperson Stephen Drummond told ESPN. com in a statement that the team would not comment directly on the donation at this time, but said “our hearts are one with those who grieve the loss of these individuals.” CCN Mother of Watts and Defender of The People Sweet Alice Harris to be Honored and Celebrated August 1, 2015 in Surprise Ceremony A friend to the community is a friend indeed, and SWEET ALICE HARRIS; known to many as Mama Alice or “Sweet Alice”; will receive honors and love awards on August 1, 2015 as she celebrates 50 years of community service in a SURPRISE luncheon held in her honor, 11am to 2pm. Friends and community leaders who will travel from several states to join the festivities are excited to celebrate with Sweet Alice and hear stories of how she and the South Central community “made it on over” with her love, prayers and swift actions of peacemaking among some of Los Angeles’ most dangerous circumstances, including the infamous Watts Riots. Sweet Alice held back the winds of ravage for those whose voice was silenced at a time when all should have been heard, recognized and respected. Celebrities from across the nation will arrive on the Red Carpet to show their love for Sweet Alice, and to congratulate her for “staying on the wall” to also help uplift and encourage politicians, clergy, educators and all who made the pledge to live for the sake of others, and those who joined forces for the good of a community shattered by stigma and unwarranted stereotypes. see SWEET ALICE Pg. 5 MULTI-CULTURAL NEWSPAPER Serving Southern California • Los Angeles County • Inglewood • Gardena • Hawthorne • Lawndale • Torrance • Redondo Beach • Manhattan Beach • Ladera • Baldwin Hills • Windsor Hills • Leimert Park • Westchester Fox Hills Shopping Mall • Culver City • Norwalk and surrounding areas 2 COMMUNITY www.calcrusnews.com California Crusader News A Weekly Adjudicated Newspaper June 25 - July 1, 2015 Grand Park’s 4th of July Block Party July 4, 2014 3:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Peace of Mind THREE LOCATIONS PHONE (424) 269-1359 (424) 269-1964 [email protected] (editorial) [email protected] (legals) [email protected] (advertising) Published Weekly — Deadline — Monday prior to Thursday issue date. 12519 Crenshaw Blvd Hawthorne, CA 90250 (Inside The Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce) 2930 W. Don’t try to change your life circumstances to be at peace, learn how to react to them in a different way. Don’t try to go out of your world to find the peace in a different place. What you have been searching can always be found within yourself. There is a place within you, which remains always calm. Listen to your inner voice asking for peace. Go inside and connect with the part of you that knows what inner peace is. Rely on your capability to remain calm without being pushed by what is going on around you. Be mindful, focus, and tranquil in any situation. If you feel that you are losing your peace of mind, focus on what is important for you: to achieve inner peace and tranquility. End the flow of angry, resentful, sad, anxious, or distracting thoughts. Allow them to disappear. To have peace of mind you need to be in the moment, to be present. You will be always anxious if you allow catastrophic thoughts about the future to be in your mind. You will feel guilty if continue thinking of the events from the past that are holding you back. To be at peace, you need to accept what is happening in the present, to be aware of your thoughts, beliefs, emotions and feelings, now. Not being judgmental is also a way to achieve peace of mind. Live your life. Don’t analyze it, just experience it the way it unfolds. Don’t judge every moment of it as good or as bad. Don’t imagine scenarios of what will happen if all goes wrong. Don’t judge yourself for what you think you did not do right. If you don’t attribute meaning to your actions or the actions of those around you, you will be able to remain calm and in balance. You are aware of what is happening, you care, you feel, but you don’t try to change the situation or judge it. Travel frequently to the place where you are at peace, where you feel safe, where you can let go of any worry or pressure you are experiencing, and where you can reconnect with yourself, with who you truly are. Relax your body and your mind and go to your inner temple, where you don’t allow others to enter, where you are able to disconnect from the world and recharge your energy. When your thoughts and feelings become calm and nothing distracts you, you will know that you have arrived to the ocean of peace. You will know that it is inside of you, it has been always there, waiting for you. www.judithmcosta.com The Music Center presents the largest July 4th celebration in Downtown LA with the third annual Grand Park’s 4th of July Block Party. After having limited access to medical care, Judah finally went for his newborn wellness checkup where his new parents received devastating news: Judah had sickle cell anemia, an inherited blood disorder. Judah suffered a stroke before receiving an umbilical cord blood transplant in October 2013. A few months later, Judahs body rejected the transplant, leaving his parents heartbroken once again. Now 3 years old, Judah needs a bone marrow transplant to save his life. But first he must find a matching donor. A bone marrow or cord blood transplant can be a cure for patients battling more than 70 diseases, including sickle cell anemia and blood cancers like leukemia. Patients are most likely to match someone who shares their ancestry. But, like many African Americans in need of transplants, Judah has yet to find a matching donor. Thats why Be The Match®, the worlds leading nonprofit organization focused on saving lives through bone marrow and cord blood transplantation, is raising awareness about the critical need for more African Americans to volunteer as potential bone marrow donors this July, which is African American Bone Marrow Awareness Month. African American patients have the lowest odds of finding a matching bone marrow donor compared to all other populations. They also have the most diverse tissue types, which makes the matching process even more challenging. Throughout July, Be The Match will host donor registry drives across the country to add more African Americans to the national Be The Match Registry®, giving patients everywhere more hope for a cure. A special online promo code, AABMAM, can be used to join the registry online by visiting Join.BeTheMatch.org/AABMAM. People can now join the registry from anywhere with internet accesshome, work or even smartphones. To learn more, people can visit www.BeTheMatch.org. The cure for sickle cell anemia and other life-threatening diseases is in the hands of ordinary people - Former Miss Universe Lupita Jones, who became the first Mexican to win the crown in 1991, said on Twitter that she is concerned about her country’s participation in the annual competition after the presidential candidate said during his campaign launch that Mexico doesn’t send its best to the U.S., instead the country sends drugs, crime and rapists. Jones is national director of Nuestra Belleza Mexico, which chooses its country’s Miss Universe representative. “Following the first statements made by Donald Trump, where he openly showed his enmity with Mexico… I got in touch with the organization’s president Paula Shugart to find out their position on Mexico’s representative,” Jones wrote in Spanish. people like 22-year-old Jasmine DeBerry. Jasmine answered the call to donate to a young child batting sickle cell anemia - just like Judah. So, when the busy college basketball star was called to donate in the midst of the season, she understood the importance of the donation and didnt hesitate to Jones has not said if Wendy Esparza, the 23-year-old journalist set to represent Mexico later this year, will be removed from the competition, but she would seriously considering doing so if she feels the beauty queen will be denigrated during the competition. “In the moment that I feel that our representative’s integrity and dignity is at risk, I will consider Wendy’s participation in Miss Universe,” she wrote on Twitter. Trump, who made several references to his wealth during his kick off speech, said Mexico was “killing” the economy of the U.S. “Nobody can build a fence like me. I would build a wall like nobody can build a wall. And nobody comes in illegally anymore…I build great buildings all over the world. I would have Mexico pay for it. Believe me,” he said. “They will pay for it because they have really ripped this country off.” CCN move forward. The New York Yankees star wasted no time, connecting in the first inning on a first-pitch, 95 mph fastball from Detroit ace Justin Verlander. Out of baseball last year while serving a drug suspension, Rodriguez became the 29th player in major league history to reach 3,000 hits. He was the first to do it since Yankees great Derek Jeter homered from the very same batter’s box in 2011. “It’s a magical number,” Rodriguez said after the final out of New York’s 7-2 victory. “I’m very happy to be in the club.” With the crowd at Yankee Stadium standing in anticipation, Rodriguez sent a high drive to right field. He held onto the bat as he took a few steps toward first base, and outfielder J.D. Martinez bumped into the wall as he backed up. Fans roared as the ball sailed a half-dozen rows into the seats. Rodriguez pointed to the crowd a couple of times and blew a kiss to someone behind the backstop after crossing the plate. He was greeted by Mark Teixeira and other teammates between the plate and the dugout, and got a big hug from manager Joe Girardi. The only other players to hit a homer for No. 3,000 were Jeter and Wade Boggs. Vergara’s “Hot Pursuit” co-star, Reese Witherspoon, could only agree, saying change needs to happen at the writing level. “What is so wrong about a Latina women’s stereotype? Generally we are women with a lot of passion, crazed by our families, by our husbands, to help our kids,” she told the Mexican press in Spanish. “We get involved in things that don’t affect us, but it’s because our family matters and we always want to help everyone.” The 42-year-old Vergara said that regardless of the roles she plays, she understands the need to get more Latino stories into the cultural forefront, but that studios are not thinking about them – yet. “It’s not on purpose. As for playing different types of roles, Vergara said she is going to stick with comedy for the time being – mostly because dramas and horror films would be too draining. “[Comedy] comes pretty naturally to me,” she said. “I never thought I would be doing it for a living, but it’s nice to be at work where you laugh all day and then go home. Notice to Potential Bidders If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a Trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a Trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same Lender may hold more than one mortgage or Deed of Trust on the property. Notice to Property Owner The sale date shown on this Notice of Sale may be postponed one or more times by the Mortgagee, Beneficiary, Trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about Trustee Sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call In Source Logic at 702-659-7766 for information regarding the Trustee’s Sale or visit the Internet Web site address listed below for information regarding the sale of this property, using the file number assigned to this case, CA05001931-14-1.
