NEW COUNSELORS!
We have now officially offered and accepted new
counselors! We are happy to welcome our new amazing
counselors to the MIT CK family! We can?t wait for the

Krazy Kezem Week
During February, we hosted
our second Krazy Kesem
Week for this academic
year! Each day in the week
of 2/ 3- 2/ 6, we had fun
events to spread the
mission of CK in the MIT
community and to help
show potential counselors
how
awesome
Camp
Kesem is. Monday, we
brought back a little bit of
camp! We had our Day in
the Life of Camp, where we
showed MIT students some
of our favorite activities,
dances, art and crafts, and
games from camp. Tuesday
night, we had Movie and
Krazy Popcorn night where
we watched a movie, hung
out, and ate delicious and
decadent popcorn just like
at camp movie night. On
Wednesday,
we
had
Bertucci's Benefit Night!
2
Groups met for lunch and
dinner to help raise money
for CK; Bertucci?s donated
15% of sales towards CK!
On Thursday, we had all
sorts of games so current
counselors can meet and
bond
with
potential
counselors.
Lastly,
on
Friday
we
had
an
application-finishing
hangout where we snacked
and sat together finishing
MAKE THE MAGI C
Every year, we hold an annual charity
dinner banquet to help us reach our
$120,000 fundraising goal. Through our
attendants?amazing generosity, we were
able to raise $8,000 this year!
Make the Magic 2015 was on March 4,
2015 from 6-8pm. MIT Professors, CK MIT
counselors, our camper families, and
other Camp Kesem MIT supporters
attended this fabulous dinner. This year,
we debuted our first ever ?Giving Tree,? where attendants could purchase a particular
item for Camp Kesem MIT by donating the amount it would cost to purchase that item.
For example, one of our generous attendants paid $500 to sponsor a camper for all Camp
expenses for the week! We also had the Silent Auction, in which we sold over thirty
items!
We were honored to have two very
compelling speakers: Steven Keating and
Peter Duff. We are beyond thankful that
these two gentlemen shared their stories
with us. Read more about them on the next
page!
We want to thank everyone who showed
their support by attending Make the Magic
and donating to our cause. Your donations
mean more than you can imagine. We hope
to see you at Make the Magic 2016!

OUR SPEAKERS
Steven Keating is a PhD candidate at the MIT
Media Lab who is developing novel platforms
for 3D printing buildings, synthetic biological
fabrication, and designed growth of the next
generation of products. Curiosity drives his
research and also saved his life through the
accidental discovery of a baseball-sized
cancerous brain tumor found in a voluntary
academic scan. With his tumor successfully
removed through awake brain surgery in
2014, Steven was able to give his amazing talk
at the event.
Peter Duff is a 17 year old a junior attending Phillips
Exeter Academy as a boarding student and a long
time camper of Camp Kesem MIT. His mother, Linnea,
was diagnosed with Stage IV non-small cell lung
cancer in early 2005, shortly before his eighth
birthday. He says that as he walked into his first day
of Camp Kesem MIT, he was ?unaware that he had
just entered into a whole new era in his personal
history.?
And the camp theme for Camp Kesem 2015 is...
