GREETINGS AND WELCOME TO CAMP MOJA!
We are looking forward to hosting your camper at Camp Moja 2015! During the week our goal is to provide a one-of-akind experience that will hopefully leave a positive lasting memory. We encourage you to ask questions or to contact us
for clarification as needed. Our staff is dedicated to assist our campers during the week and ensure that everyone
involved with Camp Moja is having a fun and safe experience.
This year’s theme is Camp Moja Mystery. Our Big Events will include the Dance, Movie Night, Moja Mystery Night
(games), Awards Ceremony, and Talent Show. We will also have a campfire, so be sure to bring a campfire blanket if you
have one.
On Site Camp Registration will begin at Lake Doniphan be on Wednesday, June 17 at the following times (early
arrivals will not be permitted):
1pm – Individual families and campers
2pm – Group Homes
It is important not to arrive before your designated time as we will not be able to accommodate early check-in. To
reiterate we are unable to accommodate early check-ins so please be advised of the above times. Additionally, we aim
to have check-in done by 3:00 PM so that our campers may begin their week of fun and excitement. Please plan to arrive
at Camp Doniphan no later than 2:45pm.
This year you will go directly to the camper’s room(s) first. At the welcome gate you will receive directions to where
your individual campers will be staying for the week. You will then take all items in to the room(s) where a counselor
will check for needed items (bedding/pillow, shorts/pants, shirts, undergarments, etc). It is essential for the well-being
of each camper that all items are brought with them to camp. We’ve included a check-list to help make packing easy.
You will be asked to purchase any items that the camper does not bring with them, so we encourage double checking
the bags before you leave.
Check-out will be on Sunday, June 21 at 9:30 AM sharp! You will need to check-in for pick-up at the upper lodge (where
you will do registration) to ensure that each camper goes home with someone on the approved list and that all
medications are sent home.
We greatly appreciate your preparation for this wonderful week and realize that this will be a busy time for everyone to
finalize all camp details. Camp Moja is a unique experience that will hopefully leave a positive impact on you for the rest
of the year.
If you have any questions prior to camp please contact us at [email protected] or 816.595.1702. If you have any
difficulties with registration or payment, please call 816.833.4300 and ask for the registrar.
Thanks again and Moja Love!

Looking for Camp Moja? Here’s how to find us:
Camp Doniphan
12856 Doniphan Lake Road
Excelsior Springs, MO 64024
From Kansas City Area:
1. Take I-35 to Exit 20. (Sign says “Excelsior Springs”.) This automatically puts you on Hwy. 69 – continue on it for
another 10 miles.
2. At the edge of Excelsior Springs, you will see a Wal-Mart on your right. Go straight ahead and this puts you on
Hwy 10, which is the main street of Excelsior Springs.
3. Stay on Highway 10 through town. It twists and turns quite a bit, so watch the signs. You can also follow the
signs for the golf course, which is nearby.
4. As you leave the eastern edge of town, you will begin to go uphill. At the top of this hill is a sign for the Golf
Course and a sign for the Memorial Airport. This is your cue to start watching for the turn-off. If it’s daylight,
you’ll see the water tower ahead; if it’s night, you’ll see the airport landing lights on your right.
5. Start signaling and watch for the first right, a short turn-off which will put you on the outer road going parallel to
Hwy 10. As you turn, jog left immediately, still traveling in the same direction (east). If you pass the water tower,
you have gone too far.
6. At this point you should see the Doniphan sign. Take the first right – “Doniphan Lake Rd”. Continue south on this
road about 1.5 miles until you reach our entrance.
7. Drive straight in and just before the lake turn right onto the road that runs in front of it. This road will take you
to the Main Lodge or to the mini-lodges just past the cabins. You will need to go to the mini lodge area once on
property.
Additional Information
-
If you wish to send your camper a letter we’d encourage that this be mailed no later than Wednesday, June 18,
to ensure it arrives by Saturday.
Don’t forget to bring a copy of the insurance card. Both are required at check-in, and campers will not be
permitted to attend camp without it.
The MAR form is also attached to the email. We encourage you fill this out on the computer and print it, but
you can fill it out by hand as well. Please bring the completed MAR with you to check-in to ensure a quick
process.
Greetings from the Camp Moja Nurses!
We are so excited for another year of Camp Moja! You will see many of our processes will remain the same as last year.
Please help us in making 2015 another great year!
Medications: To ensure the accuracy of medications given, please provide us with the following at Registration:
 The remainder of the week’s medications must come in bottles or bubble packs from a pharmacy. We will sort
and give medications as directed based on the Camp Moja Medication Administration Record provided.
Medications without pharmacy packaging/labels are discouraged and can prevent administration by camp
nurses. Only bring enough medications for the week.
 Camp Moja Medication Administration Record (MAR). A specific MAR form is supplied by Camp Moja
(Electronic/Hardcopy). This form must completed for each camper and brought to registration with
medications. Incomplete or illegible forms will not be accepted. Medications will be given as directed on these
MARs. Please be sure all MARs information is complete. Please note other outside MAR forms will NOT be
accepted, only the MAR provided by Camp Moja will be used.
 As Needed (PRN) Medications: MOJA will NOT be accepting or storing basic PRN medications. On the
Medication Administration Record (MAR) a caregiver must approve administration of PRN medications Camp
Moja will provide as indicated. If your camper frequently requires a PRN medication that is not on the list (ex:
insulin, inhaler, epi-pen, etc), a spot is provided on the MAR for these medications to be added.
 We understand medications can be a financial burden, so to avoid loss, we ask that you only bring the amount
needed for camp. Camp Moja will not be responsible for medications lost or left behind. Your pharmacy may
be willing to pre-package medications or provide extra labeled bottles for camp. The fewer meds leftover, the
smoother camper pick up is for all involved.
Diabetic Campers: Please be sure to supply us with the appropriate equipment in order to monitor your insulindependent camper for the week. This includes insulin pens, lancets, and needles. We ask that special snacks not be
brought to camp. Plenty of snacks will be available throughout the week to assist in managing glucose levels.
Colds, Rashes, and other Strange Bugs: We are in tight quarters and would like to ensure the health and safety of all at
Moja. We ask that contagious or sick campers not attend camp. Campers at check-in with a fever of 100.5 will not be
allowed to attend. Moja nurses will use their best judgment regarding health concerns and may require the camper
attain clearance from a health care provider before attending camp. Save the camper frustration by having those rashes
and toothaches looked at before camp.
Please remember these processes help us ensure camper safety. So if you have any questions, please email us at
[email protected]. We can’t wait to see the campers and are looking forward to another great year!!
