B.Sc. optometry Program structure
The body of the program consists of:
1- One school year including English language materials and health sciences (33
hours).
2- One uniform semester in Applied Medical Sciences (14 hours).
3- Program courses of Optometry Department 98 hours: covering courses
through the levels of study from the fourth to ninth semester.
Total credit hours required for graduation 145 hours.
4- Internship year:
12 months training in Government hospitals, divided into 3 periods of 4
months with a total of 2000 hours per year.
The optometry study program can be divided into four phases:
1- Study Phase I: Preparatory year (2 levels)
2- Study Phase II: General year: CAMS core program ( 1 level)
3- Study Phase III: Optometry courses (6 levels)
4- Study Phase IV: Internship year.

Phase IV: Internship year.
The student spends one year as internship. The year is divided into three periods,
every period is four months, and the students spend each period in a different hospital.
At the end of each period the hospital sends a report about the student to the
Optometry department to check progress and performance of the student before
moving to the next period.
Notice: The student will not graduate until the internship is completed and his/her
reports from the supervisor at the hospitals are satisfactory.
