This Supplement is to be read in conjunction with the Australian Canoeing Inc. Selection Procedures Bylaw.
1. EVENTS
1.1 The events for which junior men and junior women athletes representing Australia and Australian Canoeing will
be selected in the discipline of Canoe Marathon in the year 2015 is:

2015 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships to be held in Gyor, Hungary – 11 to 13 September
2015.
2. SELECTION CRITERIA
2.1 The closing date for receiving nominations for selection to the Australian Canoe Marathon Team, as required by
clause of the AC Selection Procedures Bylaw, is midnight on 31 March 2015.
2.2 These criteria may be amended or supplemented by the Board of AC in its absolute discretion from time to time.
AC shall provide, as much notice of such change as is possible to all affected Athletes, Member State Associations
and others as determined by the Board in accordance with clauses 3.2 and 3.3 of the Selection Procedures Bylaw.
2.3 The selection of athletes to the Team will be in accordance with the selection criteria in section 5. The selection
panel will select athletes after completion of the 2015 Australian Canoe Marathon Championships.
3.
DEFINITIONS
3.1 In these Criteria, the following words have the following respective meanings:
“Selection Procedures Bylaw”
means the Bylaw adopted by the Board of AC that governs the selection of Athletes to
Australian Canoeing Teams.
Words not defined in these Criteria have the meaning ascribed to them in the Constitution of AC or the Selection
Procedures Bylaw unless a contrary meaning appears from the context.
4. SELECTION EVENTS
4.1 The Selection Event an athlete must compete in should they wish to be considered for the Team is the
(a) 2015 Australian Canoe Marathon Championships on 4 and 5 April 2015 at Canberra, Australian Capital
Territory or
(b) a date and a venue as announced by Australian Canoeing should the championships be cancelled or
postponed due to unforeseen circumstances
Note: Junior Athletes seeking selection must compete in the Under 18 Classes at the Selection Event.
4.2 To be selected to the Team to compete at the 2015 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships athlete must be
available to tour with the Team between 22 August to 14 September 2015.

5.1 The Selection Panel appointed by the Board of AC pursuant to clause 4.1 of the AC Selection Procedures By-Law
may select a maximum of two (2) Athletes or Crews in each of the following Classes to the Team:

Junior Men K2
Junior Men C1
Junior Men C2
Junior Women K1
Junior Women K2
Junior Women C1
5.2 A Junior Male Athlete will be selected in K1 from the nominated Athletes if they win the applicable K1 Class at
the Selection Event, or if they finish within three percent (3%) of the winning Junior Men K1 time. Should more
than two (2) Athletes satisfy this clause, the highest placed Athletes will be selected.
5.3 A Junior Male Crew will be selected in K2 from the nominated Crews if they win the applicable K2 Class at the
Selection Event, or if the Crew finishes within three percent (3%) of the winning Junior Men K2 time. Should more
than two (2) Crews satisfy this clause, the highest placed Crews will be selected.
5.4 A Junior Female Athlete will be selected in K1 from the nominated Athletes if they win the applicable K1 Class at
the Selection Event, or if they finish within three percent (3%) of the winning Junior Women K1 time. Should
more than two (2) Athletes satisfy this clause, the highest placed Athletes will be selected.
5.5 A Junior Female Crew will be selected in K2 from the nominated Crews if they win the applicable K2 Class at the
Selection Event, or if the Crew finishes within three percent (3%) of the winning Junior Women K2 time. Should
more than two (2) Crews satisfy this clause, the highest placed Crews will be selected.
5.6 A Junior Male Athlete will be selected in C1 from the nominated Athletes if they win the applicable C1 Class at
the Selection Event, or if they finish within three percent (3%) of the winning Junior Men C1 time. Should more
than two (2) Athletes satisfy this clause, the highest placed Athletes will be selected.
5.7 A Junior Male Crew will be selected in C2 from the nominated Crews if they win the applicable C2 Class at the
Selection Event, or if the Crew finishes within three percent (3%) of the winning Junior Men C2 time. Should
more than two (2) Crews satisfy this clause, the highest placed Crews will be selected.
5.8 A Junior Female Athlete will be selected in C1 from the nominated Athletes if they win the applicable C1 Class at
the Selection Event, or if they finish within three percent (3%) of the winning Junior Women C1 time. Should
more than two (2) Athletes satisfy this clause, the highest placed Athletes will be selected.
5.9
Where the number of Athletes selected in a Class is less than the number of available places in that Class, the
Selection Panel may, propose to the Board of AC for approval, to select the next highest ranked Athlete in that
class following the Selection Event. The Selection Panel must consider at a minimum the following factors in
order to select the athletes:
a)
The margin an Athlete finished outside of the allowed percentage; and

b) Ability of the Athlete to train and compete at the required level and to participate in a national
team preparation program and a World Championship/World Cup, as determined by the Selection Panel;
The factors detailed above are by no means to act as an exhaustive list of the matters that the Selection Panel
can take into account.
A rational supporting any athletes nominated for selection under this clause must accompany the nomination/s
be to the Board of AC
6. EXTENUATING CIRCUMST ANCES
6.1 For the purposes of determining whether an Athlete has met the requirements of this Selection Criteria
Supplement Australian Canoeing will not have regard to any extenuating circumstances.
