Capital Stage 2015 Oregon Shakespeare Festival Tour
July 9 – 12, 2015
Join us in what is becoming a Capital Stage tradition! Once again we are embarking on this four-day tour to Ashland, Oregon, home
of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
Founded in 1935, the Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is one of the oldest and largest non-profit theatres in
the nation. During our visit to the festival we will see the following productions:



FINGERSMITH (Thursday, July 9, 8:00 PM Angus Bowmer Theatre)– A wild ride of a Victorian crime thriller
At first, the job seems simple: All pickpocket Sue Trinder has to do is help a con man cheat a gullible young
heiress out of her fortune. But nothing is quite what it seems in this gritty mystery set in 19th-century England.
As the twisting story sends Sue spiraling through squalid London streets, madhouses and a stifling mansion with
a ghastly secret, it leads her to the most dangerous landscape of all: awakening sexuality, love and betrayal. Bill
Rauch directs this world-premiere adaptation of Sarah Waters’ 2002 novel, a finalist for the Man Booker Prize.
THE HAPPIEST SONG PLAYS LAST (Friday, July 10 8:00 PM Thomas Theatre)– Everyone needs a place to call
home. Iraq War vet Elliot Ortiz has a bright new career: movie star. But shooting a film on location in Jordan,
with the tumultuous Arab Spring rumbling nearby, he finds that his wartime nightmares have followed him into
his new life. Back in Philadelphia, his cousin Yaz has her hands full cooking for the homeless and trying to keep
her beloved community from crumbling. This powerful sequel to Quiara Alegría Hudes’ Water by the Spoonful
explores the places we live our lives and the places we can’t forget—all set to a joyful pulse of Puerto Rican folk
music.
ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA (Saturday, July 11, 8:00 PM Allen Elizabethan Theatre)– A love that changed history
One fateful meeting reshapes the ancient world when the great Roman warrior Mark Antony, like Caesar before
him, falls in love with the incomparable Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile. His devotion to desire rather than duty is
the beginning of a downward spiral for him, the Republic and Cleopatra, the last in her bloodline. Shakespeare’s
tragedy presents history as a breathtaking pageant full of passion, intrigue, exotic locales and the larger-than-life
characters that brought about the death of an Egyptian dynasty and the birth of the Roman Empire.
