Reedy House Construction Deliveries
Now that the concrete pour for the first floor of the Reedy House has been completed by
Triangle Construction, the next major event will occur on Monday, July 6, 2015. Starting
around 10am on the 6th, we will block of Springcrest Court in front of the construction site for
approximately four hours while the first shipments of lumber are unloaded. This process will
not affect access from the parking garage of the Burgess building, you will still be able to
access the parking area by entering from the Linville Courts side of the campus. These large
lumber deliveries will be occurring on an every other week basis.
Back Entrance Gate move
As you have probably noticed, the move of the back entrance gates scheduled to occur on July
2, 2015 did not get completed. The electrical and cabling contractors encountered some
unexpected issues, and now the gate move is scheduled to be completed on Monday, July 6,
2015.
Phase II Cottage Expansions
The binder layer of asphalt has been completed for the Phase II cottage expansions. We have
blocked access to these streets at the back entrance to the campus. Please refrain from
driving vehicles on this new surface until sometime after July 8, 2015. We expect to see Five
Star Builders start the process of laying the first cottage foundation by July 13, 2015.
I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable 4th of July holiday.
See you around the campus.

Sunday, July 5th
9:30am:
Worship Service with North Hills Community Church, Ballroom
Looking forward to being with you this Sunday on a special holiday week-end celebration of
our nation's birthday. Interestingly, our messages from John's gospel bring us this Sunday to
John 17. One of the great themes of this chapter is the glory of the Lord. One of our favorite
patriotic hymns speaks of the glory of the Lord in conjunction with the hand of God on the
the birth of our nation. The first hymn we sing will be "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."

News from the Trail July
Remarkable and complex natural phenomena continue to
appear as the trail surrounds evolve. These strange objects
appeared on a white oak tree next to the bench on the trail
above the gardens. With the help of the Clemson extension
service and our resident entomologist Herb Streau, we
identified these as wool sower galls. This tiny, two mm.
non-stinging wasp lays its eggs only on white oak trees and
the secretions from the eggs stimulate the tree to produce
this fuzzy gall, in which the larva grow. When mature, a
small opening will allow the next generation of wasps to
escape. There are many strange and unusual galls formed
from this interaction of insects and plants, but this is
certainly one of the most unique. Abundant summer growth
will, no doubt, bring more surprises.

Pool reserved for WAVES (MC program) this week: Tuesday AND Thursday 3:45 – 4:30pm.
Waves CNA is off this week, so there are more open swim opportunities this week for our Independent members Enjoy!
I see a need for the Audiologist’s service on our campus to be more frequent than once a quarter. I had asked her recently to
schedule a visit on a bi-monthly basis moving forward. The next visit will be at end of August, look out for my flyer a couple
weeks ahead of the visit. Please call me directly to schedule an appointment.
New Podiatrist Dr. Mathis now serves our members in the Linville area. Please know that YOUR visit is specifically scheduled for
you. The folks from Linville lined up in the hallway are ready to be taken in case someone doesn’t show up AND to follow
Independent members (you guys have the early morning). Please come inside at your scheduled time.
