Interestingly, our messages from John's gospel bring us this Sunday to John 17. One of the great themes of this chapter is the glory of the Lord. One of our favorite patriotic hymns speaks of the glory of the Lord in conjunction with the hand of God on the the birth of our nation. The first hymn we sing will be "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." 11:00am: 3:00pm: 7:30pm: Sunday Brunch, Dining Room Matinee Movie, Movie Theater Evening Movie, Movie Theater th Monday, July 6 10:00am: 10:30am: 1:00pm: 1:30pm: 1:30pm: 3:00pm: 4:00pm: 4:00pm: 7:00pm: 7:30pm: RAC Committee Meeting, PDR Rummikub, Bistro In Stitches, Pub Choir Rehearsal, Ballroom (Cancelled) Contract Bridge, Burgess Card Room Swingin' Music With the Carousers, Repertoire includes lively jazz standards and tin pan alley songs. These strange objects appeared on a white oak tree next to the bench on the trail above the gardens. With the help of the Clemson extension service and our resident entomologist Herb Streau, we identified these as wool sower galls. This tiny, two mm. non-stinging wasp lays its eggs only on white oak trees and the secretions from the eggs stimulate the tree to produce this fuzzy gall, in which the larva grow. When mature, a small opening will allow the next generation of wasps to escape. There are many strange and unusual galls formed from this interaction of insects and plants, but this is certainly one of the most unique. Abundant summer growth will, no doubt, bring more surprises. I see a need for the Audiologist’s service on our campus to be more frequent than once a quarter. I had asked her recently to schedule a visit on a bi-monthly basis moving forward. The next visit will be at end of August, look out for my flyer a couple weeks ahead of the visit. Please call me directly to schedule an appointment. New Podiatrist Dr. Mathis now serves our members in the Linville area. Please know that YOUR visit is specifically scheduled for you. The folks from Linville lined up in the hallway are ready to be taken in case someone doesn’t show up AND to follow Independent members (you guys have the early morning). Please come inside at your scheduled time. 15 | P a g e Aleksandra #528-5526 16 | P a g e
