Introduction
The ancient God Cthulhu is a character from the books
and stories of H.P. Lovecraft.
Needed:
Green yarn,
Hook suitable for the yarn,
Stuffing
Yarn needle
Beads
I used Catania Cotton and hook 2.5 mm
US terminology is used
MR = Magic ring
SC = Single crochet
HDC = Half double crochet
DC = Double Crochet
SLST= slipstitch
CH = chain
INC= Increase across the round/row
DEC= decrease across the round/row
Head and Body
1. Start with green and crochet a MR with 6 sc in it and close the ring, crochet continually
around. Mark the beginning of the rounds.

15. Inc 2 sc on each side, making the shoulders (20)
16. Inc 2 sc on each side, making the shoulders (24)

Dec 6 sc (18)

Dec 6 sc (12), stuff the neck and body firmly
Dec 6 sc, fasten off and close the gap with a needle.
Legs
Make 2
1. Start with a MR wit 6 sc in the ring. Pull the pitch thread through the ring so it is on the right
side, you need it later on.
2. Inc 6 sc (12)
3. Dec 4 sc on one side making the feet (8)
4. 8 sc around (8)
5. Repeat till leg is long enough ( 6 rows), end with a slst, fasten off, leave long thread.
6. Stuff the leg
7. Interweave the thread with the yarn needle through the last stitches and pull together, sew
the leg to the body.
8. With the yarn needle and pitch thread shape the foot.
Foot claws
1. Start with green or another nice color! Make 2!
Crochet continually.
2. Ch 5, turn, 4 slst in the chain, turn
3. Ch 6, turn, 5 slst in the chain, turn
4. Ch 5, turn, 4 slst in the chain, turn
5. 2 sc in the claws, ch 3, turn, 2 slst in the chain, 2 sc in
the claws, fasten off
6. Sew the claw to the foot! Smallest toe to the back!
Arms
Make 2
1. Start with a MR and crochet the first finger * 1 sc in the ring, 4 ch, turn, 3 sc in the
chain,* repeat ** 2 times (two more fingers), 2 sc in the ring, 3 ch, turn, 2 sc in the chain,
(thumb) 1 sc in the ring, pull the ring tight. Pull the pitch thread through the ring so it is
on the right side. You can use the thread to shape the hand and claws later on.
2. Crochet 6 sc above each sc of the previous round, the chains will protrude as claws
3. 6 sc around
4. Inc 1 sc (7)
5. 7 sc around (7)
6. 7 sc around (7) end with a slst.
7. fasten off
8. Stuff the arm and interweave the thread with the yarn needle through the last stitches
and pull together, sew the arm to the body, with the thumb on top.
Make the second arm in the same way, but mirror the claws, first the little one, then the other claws
Tentacles
Crochet continually, making the 6 tentacles.
Start with a chain of 10, turn, 9 sc, turn,
11 ch, turn, 10 sc, turn,
12 ch, turn, 11 sc, turn,
12 ch, turn, 11 sc, turn,
11 ch, turn, 10 sc, turn,
10 ch, turn, 9 sc, turn
6 sc, 1 sc in each tentacle.
Fasten off.
You can make the tentacles longer or shorter, by making the chains longer or shorter.
Wings
Make 2
1. Start with a MR and crochet a sc in the ring,
chain 9, turn
2. 8 sc in the chain, 1 sc in the MR, turn,
3. *3 sc in the wing, 2 hdc, 3 dc, 1 ch, turn,
4. 8 sc in the wing, 1 sc in the MR,*
5. repeat 2 times the part between the *
6. fasten off
7. Pull the thread of the MR tight
8. Sew the wing to the back of the body.
Tail
1.

Start with a MR and crochet 4 sc around in the ring.
Inc 2 sc in the next rounds
6 sc around till tail is long enough
Fasten off
Stuff the tail and sew it to the body.
Face
1. Tentacles: Sew the tentacles to the head; sew the longer middle tentacles apart together to
form a kind of nose or protruding part.
2. Eyebrow: Ch 15, turn, skip 1 ch, 14 sc, fasten off, sew above the eyes.
3. Eyes: Embroider two eyes to the face or sew two beads to the face.
4. Mouth: Embroider a mouth beneath the tentacles
