PLAN
YOUR EXPERIENCE!
JUL 10 – AUG 2
2015
Dear Festival Guest,
WELCOME! Use these pages to help you plan your visit to
the Contemporary American Theater Festival. Your destination
experience begins in the historic village of Shepherdstown, West
Virginia located on the banks of the Potomac River. Our Festival
is a home for a community of “creatives” telling pioneering stories
with an insatiable appetite for adventure and compelling vision.
The Festival Experience isn’t all about being inside. Explore
charming downtown Shepherdstown, the historic battlefields
nearby, or take a bike ride along the C&O Canal. Don’t miss out on
the fantastic shopping or the rustic charm of this village so close
to the city.
All of that activity is bound to work up an appetite! Eat, replenish,
and prepare for the conversations to come. Enjoy our restaurants,
bistros, cafes, and pubs, where you will have the opportunity to
meet with our theater artists and Festival patrons for stimulating
conversations and build lasting relationships of your own.
CATF and Shepherdstown are a workout for the mind and a getaway
for the body. So, rest up at one of our hotels or quaint B&Bs.

25TH SEASON: JULY 10 - AUGUST 2, 2015
5 PLAYS/ONE
ULTIMATE FESTIVAL

Time to build YOUR ultimate theater festival experience!
On the following pages, you’ll find our schedule and our order form. Take a
minute to refer back to the PLAY GUIDE for descriptions of the plays and
biographies of the playwrights.
PURCHASING A 4- or 5-SHOW REP PASS GETS YOU THE “TOTAL” EXPERIENCE BUT . . .
DID YOU KNOW?
You can purchase a Sunday 4 Pass and see one show every Sunday evening and spread
your experience out over the entire month of July. Plan a lovely dinner prior to the show
and hear the “scoop” from other patrons about the play you are about to see.
You can see three plays in one day if you are truly adventurous and curious. See World
Builders at noon in Studio 112. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the theater atmosphere in the
Copper Canyon. See a 2:30 show and have a quick dinner downtown before you see your
third show at 8:00 or 8:30. In between shows, you are sure to hear plenty of bold dialogue
among the other patrons spending the day at CATF.
You could attend a FREE reading on a Tuesday evening allowing you to see a play that is
in development; spend the night at a local establishment and then see one, two or three
plays on Wednesday before the weekend experience begins.

GOVERNMENT
The art you see on stage and the actors you watch transform are all supported
by your gifts. Please consider a tax-deductible contribution to the Contemporary
American Theater Festival. Invest in CATF and you are investing in the future of the American theater.
There are several areas to which you can direct your support. Visit our website at catf.org/donate to
learn more (we have just expanded our donor initiatives and opportunities) or call 304.876.5240.
FESTIVAL FRIENDS
CATF’s annual fund program, now with additional perks, events, and meet-the-artist opportunities,
remains the most important source for meeting each season’s budget. This is our life-blood and how
we pay our staff and artists, and build the shows seen on our stages.
THE “ED FUND”
CATF’s endowment (full name: The Ed Herendeen Fund for Contemporary Theater), housed at the
Shepherd University Foundation, is an invested fund committed to the long-term health of the
organization and established to support future commissions and expanded artistic programming.
THE OVATION SOCIETY
Inspired by recent legacy gifts by some of our most-committed donors, this program honors those
individuals who have provided for CATF in their estate plans, including trusts, bequests, annuities,
and life insurance policies.
Help CATF continue the Experience!
