Celebrating 21 years in 2015, Community Care (Northern Beaches) Ltd (CCNB) is a not for profit,
non-religious organisation that provides a range of community based services for older people, people
with a disability, people with a mental illness and their carers across the Northern Sydney region. With
around 60 staff, CCNB helps some of the most vulnerable people in the community maximise
opportunities to get the most out of life.
The role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Manager, Marketing & Communication is an ‘all-rounder’
position requiring an energetic individual who can bring both strategic and strong hands-on
experience to this role.
The key responsibilities of the role are:






Developing, implementing and evaluating the annual, comprehensive and integrated
marketing/communication strategy and tactics (such as stakeholder relations – mostly media,
government + partner relations, event management, CSR initiatives, online presence and issues
management) that support CCNB’s Strategic Plan;
Researching, writing and managing the production of all marketing and communication materials
including CCNB’s Annual Report, case studies and other collateral/materials and contributing to
business development, fundraising and government tender and grant submissions;
Developing media relations plans and generating media releases to deliver key messages and
manage the public profile of CCNB;
Overseeing brand and reputation management;
Managing, optimising and keeping up to date the CCNB online presences; and
Supporting CCNB’s workplace initiatives by providing communication expertise to CCNB’s
Executive and Leadership Teams to augment internal communication and change management
activities.
This role requires someone who is willing and able to ‘roll their sleeves’ up and do the tactical
as well as strategic work.
Selection Criteria
Essential formal qualifications, key competencies and experience include:






Tertiary qualifications, at minimum degree level in Marketing, Communication, Public
Relations/Public Affairs, or Business; or demonstrated Marketing and Communication
competence/experience to that level.
Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating contemporary, integrated
marketing/communication strategies and tactics that have impact for a not for profit, dynamic
organisation in a change-rich operating environment
Experience in effective media management and achieving publicity
Experience in establishing, managing and monitoring stakeholder relations programs including
with government and other key stakeholders
Experience in concieiving and driving CSR initatives and corporate partnerships
Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills








Experience in writing and/or managing the production of publications including Annual Reports,
speeches, case studies, newsletters, brochures etc.
Experience in brand/reputation management, issues/crisis management.
Experience in change management/internal communication, in particular, working with HR and
the CEO/Leadership Team to develop comprehensive plans that support management and staff
in a change-rich operating environment.
Experience in professional event design and management.
Experience in developing and managing digital strategies including website, social media and
reporting on results/impact.
Experience as a contributing, value-adding member of an organisation’s Leadership Team and
solid influencing skills with executives/peers.
High level relationship management skills to build relationships with internal clients, government,
media, partners and suppliers.
Strong organisational and project management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise and
manage competing tasks, meet deadlines and achieve results in a dynamic environment.
Desirable formal qualifications, key competencies and experience include:


Postgraduate qualification in Marketing, Communication or Public Relations.
Experience working in a not for profit organisation – particularly in the ageing, disability and/or
mental health sectors.
Remuneration
A prorated remuneration package of between $91,749 - $100,738 per annum inclusive of
superannuation will be offered commensurate with skills and experience.
CCNB is a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) and has concessional tax status available under
legislation for its employees enabling them to receive up to $15,900 p.a. of their salary as a tax free
benefit.
The role will initially be offered on the basis of an initial 12 month fixed term contract.
