The Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), a member of the Inter-American Development
Bank (IDB) Group, promotes private-sector development in Latin America and the Caribbean with
a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The IIC has an opening for a Direct
Technical Assistance Program Consultant to support the technical assistance activities of the
Technical Assistance and Strategic Partnerships Division (TAS).
Background
The IIC provides direct technical assistance (DTA) in a wide range of areas, including environmental upgrading, strategic business
development, financial analysis and management, corporate governance, operations and technology evaluation, and marketing
strategy. The program strengthens companies by boosting their competitiveness (including at the global level) and helping them to
meet the eligibility standards for IIC financing.
Main Responsibilities
 Assist the program coordinator with all aspects of DTA activities.
 Provide support in the identification of potential DTA operations based on the business needs of current and potential IIC clients;
appropriately structure such operations to address those needs.
 Coordinate activities with the relevant IIC units to obtain and process information needed for the preparation of DTA requests.
 Prepare initial DTA eligibility requests and detailed funding requests (Plans of Operations) for individual DTA interventions,
including the definition of activities.
 Identify consultants and maintain a database of consultants for the provision of DTA services.
 Prepare terms of reference, participate in the selection of consultants, and process consultancy contracts and payments to
consultants engaged in DTA operations.
 Monitor the implementation of individual DTA operations and keep up to date information on their status.
 Manage budget and perform financial control of all DTA operations.
 Measure results and prepare reports following IIC guidelines.
 Develop and maintain content for the FINPYME Technical Assistance the IIC’s website.
 Other related activities as requested by the Division Chief or his/her delegate.
Qualifications
 Education: Master’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related discipline.
 Experience: At least five years of relevant professional experience, preferably including the preparation of technical assistance
requests. Investment experience in corporate and project financing. Experience in project evaluation. Extensive client
relationship skills; extensive interaction with private-sector clients; solid understanding of private-sector client needs.
 Languages: Strong command of written and spoken English and Spanish.
 Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and project management software.
