 Never leave a child – there are times when unforeseen issues arise
– never leave a child alone waiting to be pick-up

attempt – contact appropriate personnel to assist (GenMove Rec
staff are trained and certified) or call 911
 Coaches – always have your first aide packet and roster with you at
all time.
 Game Day snacks – it is not required (but nice to offer) snacks for

SOCCER LEAGUE RULES
SHINGUARDS – shinguards are REQUIRED for each practice and
game for ALL players
Schedule is designed to be developmental in nature … prior to games all
divisions will participate in warm-up and skills/drills to better prepare
for game situations and learn rules/regulations.
Every effort will be made to keep teams equal and balanced in ability. The
intent will always be to provide an equal recreational experience to all
participants. Coaches are expected to have players play a variety of
positions to help players develop many different skills.
Rules are to provide safe and equal games for players, coaches and
officials. At no time should anyone attempt to alter the rules.
Rules and game format are modified from age group (division) to age
group. Also, you may find slight variations depending on which league
your child is participating in.
We will always work to accommodate players so if there is a day when a
player cannot make their scheduled game all they need to do is contact
you and assign them to be a "guest player" for a different team.
Recreation
Each player who is present for the game MUST always play a minimum
of 50% of the game. Players may be substituted during the game as much
as necessary. This may be accomplished whenever your team has
possession from an out of bounds ball. Both teams can substitute on a
goal kick, goal score, or an injury. You are encouraged not to substitute
during a corner kick or free kick.
4-5 Yrs: Use a size 3 soccer ball. No goal keeper. Staff will review
certain rules and check equipment before play. The team will play
average of 6 v 6; players should be rotated as a whole each half, but
maybe subbed as needed during play. Team parents are encouraged
to assist the instructor on the field. No scorekeeping or standings. If
you are able, you may introduce some positioning at this level, as long as
there is no goalie or players located directly in front of the goal box.
6-7 Yrs: Use a size 4 ball. Teams are encouraged to place players into
positions on the field; goalies will be allowed. Teams will play average 6
v 6 players at a time, rotating positions during each half or as needed.
Coaches are encouraged to remain on the field to assist the instructor on
the field and help players play as a team. No scorekeeping or standings.
8-9 Yrs: Use a size 4 ball. Games will consist of two 15 minute halves and
teams will play max number of players of 11 v 11 (as participation
allows), 1 being the goalie. If one team doesn’t have 11 players, the larger
team can choose to give them one of their players to the other team so
that players get more playing time.
10-12 Yrs: Use a size 4 or 5 ball. Games will consist of two 15 minute
halves and teams will play 11 on the field (as participation numbers
allow), 1 being the goalie. If one team doesn’t have 11 players, the larger
team can choose to give them one of their players to the other team so
that players get more playing time.
