Job Title: Commercial Underwriting Manager
Department: Underwriting
Reports To: Vice President of Specialty Lines
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary: Generally responsible for Centauri’s Florida Commercial Residential and Businessowners
products and underwriting guidelines with the end-goal to meet corporate profitability and production
objectives:
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Develop underwriting guidelines; set and establish Commercial program policies and
procedures.
2. Continually review, evaluate, enhance, and implement revisions to underwriting guidelines
including preparing filings and providing direction to systems and partner underwriters.
3. Research, assess and reports how Centauri compares to competitors and to the overall market.
4. Develop and maintain effective business relationships with distribution and service partners.
5. Review all submissions requiring home office Underwriting approval. Apply an advanced level of
expertise and judgment to analyze data and provide approval for risk selection and acceptance,
coverage, and price.
6. Contribute to development of related training materials and presentations.
7. Identify and recommend opportunities for improvement and implement action plans to address
underwriting quality gaps.
8. Maximize efficiency in underwriting operations while effectively utilizing available resources in
support of company growth and profitability objectives.
9. Make sound decisions based on data and risk assessment and make a positive impact on the
long-term success of the overall business.
10. Actively participates in training programs offered by Centauri, as needed.
11. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Commercial Underwriting staff.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software,

management systems.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) from a four-year college or university required; four to six years in
Underwriting preferably with experience in Commercial lines of business; and three plus years in a
supervisory role.
