Our first event was the Supporter Luncheon. This year’s luncheon
happened on the first day of spring at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
At this event we heard firsthand from the 42 recipients how our grant
funds have touched the lives of many children.
Vice President’s Message - Claudia Grant
Ivan Scheier must have been referring to the
ladies of CCFC when he stated, “The broadest
and maybe the most meaningful definition of
volunteering: Doing more than you have to
because you want to, in a cause you consider
good.” It is an honor and privilege to work
along side this group of unselfish, caring, and
patient group of ladies who work to enrich
the lives of many children.
CCFC is excited to welcome three new members Audrey Alfano, Corrine Cilli and Kristy
Wilson. We are thrilled to have them as we
begin to tap into their energy. It’s infectious!
We are sad to say farewell to Melinda Bollinger who has been a member since 2008. Melinda has deep roots in Newport Beach and has decided to move there to be closer to her family and
lifelong friends. We will miss her and wish her all the best.
In closing,
“Every child is one caring adult away from being a success story”. Josh
Shipp
“If you think you are too small to be effective, you have never been in bed
with a mosquito.” Betty Reese
CCFC is small but we are mighty!
Grant Recipient Spotlight
Assistance League San Luis Obispo County
Central Coast Funds for Children has been a proud supporter of the Assistance League San Luis
Obispo County Operation School Bell program for 17 years. Operation School Bell® is the chapter’s
primary philanthropic program created to help children in need from Kindergarten through 6th grade,
particularly those students whose school attendance, academic performance, and social adjustment may
be affected by the lack of suitable school clothing. All shopping is done at a retail store, one in the North
County and one in the South County. The children can chose the clothing themselves, getting a proper
fit is guaranteed in a store, and the children return to school wearing the same clothes as their peers.
This last school year the Assistance League provided over 1,600 children in San Luis Obispo County with
school-appropriate wardrobes.
We are proud to announce that Assistance League is opening a Thrift Shop in downtown San Luis Obispo
on April 1st. We congratulate them on all their hard work.
Reminder:
Grant request guidelines
and applications can be found on our website:
centralcoastfundsforchildren.org. Deadline
for 2015 grant requests is September 30th.
Sunshine Sacks
Our members continue to meet to create fun-filled sacks for the foster care child as he or she
is placed into the system. A group of our members spend several hours once a month sewing
decorative bags and stuffing them with a blanket, coloring book, stuffed animal, journal, crayons,
pencils, toothbrush and a hair brush. For some of the older children, we add hand lotion,
deodorant, shampoo and hard candy. We distribute
these bags to The Family Care Network, Women’s
Shelter and The South County Youth Coalition. In
2014, we delivered over 122 sacks.
Cheryl Fernandez & Sharon Baldridge - Chairs
A big THANK YOU goes to the members of the
Kiwanis of San Luis Obispo de Tolosa for their
generous donation of $500 to our Sunshine Sacks
project. This money is used to buy supplies for our
sacks.
We are grateful to the Church of the Nazarene on
Johnson Avenue for making available a place to
meet and make our sacks.

CCFC Garden of Giving Fall Event Arroyo Grande
Something new and different is cooking for Central Coast
Funds for Children this fall. We are excited to announce our
new fall event ”Garden of Giving" at the beautiful Victorian
Inn in Arroyo Grande. We will have a full barbeque dinner
prepared by the Kiwanis de Tolosa of San Luis Obispo. BBQ
is accompanied by salad, bread, desserts, wine and beer and
punch plus vegetarian items. Plans are in progress for this
fundraiser party for CCFC family and friends.

Children’s Day in the Mission Plaza - SLO
Please join CCFC on April 11th for this San Luis Obispo tradition
that celebrates the magic of youth. Promoting family, creativity,
individuality and diversity, Children's Day In The Plaza is
appropriately held in April – “The month of the child”.
As in years past the CCFC booth will give children of all ages
opportunity to make Fruit Loop necklaces that challenge their
artistic abilities and satisfy their taste buds. Needless to say,
more Fruit Loops are consumed than make their way home as a
necklace… Who would have ever guessed? Laughter, smiles and
sticky fingers once again prove that being a kid is a wonderful
thing.
Marge Cooper & Verniece Lincoln Chairs
Kite Festival in Morro Bay
The Kite Festival in Morro Bay will be held on April 25th.
We are excited to participate again this year bringing
happiness to many children of all ages as they gleefully
decorate their kites. We are not sure who has more fun,
the kids or the CCFC members who help. Every year we
work together to construct approximately 500 kites for
the children. This year we have an unexpected addition
in our kite making efforts. CCFC supporter Nancy Brown
lovingly assembled 160 kites for this year’s event!
Thank you Nancy and to all of our kite makers.

Would You Like To Help?
Did you know CCFC has three ways to remember a friend or loved one and at the same time help
children in San Luis Obispo County? CCFC is happy to share a Celebration or to Honor someone
you admire or someone who has done something special. Many of our supporters and members
have made In Memoriam donations, but we want to remind you that there are two more ways to
donate to CCFC. To contribute IN CELEBRATION, IN HONOR, OR IN MEMORIAM, please send your
check to CCFC or make a donation on our website at centralcoastfundsforchildren.org. CCFC will
acknowledge your donation with a note to your honoree or the family of your in memoriam. Now
you know how CCFC can help you “REMEMBER A FRIEND, SOMEONE SPECIAL OR FAMILY MEMBER”
when the time arises.
Another opportunity to donate to CCFC is to become an INDIVIDUAL OR BUSINESS SUPPORTER.
You may contribute at your level of choice:
Committed …………………………………………$500.00 and above
Compassionate……………………………………$300.00 to 499.00
Faithful………………………………………………..$100.00 to 299.00
Caring………………………………………………….$ 35.00 to $ 99.00
Supporters may attend the Annual Supporter Luncheon in the spring and will receive our
newsletter. If you are interested in supporting CCFC in any of the above ways, please indicate your
type of donation and make checks payable to CCFC. Thank you for joining our mission to serve
children in need in San Luis Obispo County.
