excitement about our newest way to become part of the Quilting by the Bay family. So whether

something wonderful for yourself or a cherished gift for someone in your life. As a Judy Niemeyer
Certified Quilt Shop, we love hosting Judy for classes and spreading the gospel of how beautiful
her patterns are. Her classes continue to inspire and amaze both experienced and beginning
students proving that, by following her techniques, complicated ideas can be broken down into
time saving steps to create stunning quilts. In our continuing effort to delight our quilting family,
we are now working with Jacqueline De Jonge from the Netherlands. We will be bringing her to
Quilting by the Bay this fall to feature her unique style of classroom instruction and quilt design and
are already offering her Be Colourful patterns.
As we said last catalog, who knows what the next step in our journey will be, but whatever it

echniques I feel are critical to successful paper piecing include floating points, strip-piecing
and speed-sewing, pre-cutting techniques that always keep your fabric cut on the grain and
keep a quilter organized while saving time, and stepwise processes that take complicated
ideas and break them down to keep quilters on track.

Each pattern that Judy Niemeyer and her son Bradley design includes preprinted foundation papers to easily complete the quilt as shown. She provides
template layout sheets with many of the patterns that were designed to speed
up the cutting process, allowing you to stack and cut your fabric. Foundation
paper piecing techniques are used when sewing the pieces onto the foundation
units. Curved piecing and traditional piecing skills may be required to join the
units after the foundation piecing is completed. All of our Judy Niemeyer
fabric kits do not include the pattern. Please order the pattern
separately if desired.

veryone who is making a quilt finds his or her piece really unique and special! Perhaps it has
something to do with the purpose for which the quilt is made or the event where the quilt is
received or given as a present. Nevertheless, each quilt is a piece of art where the maker spends
a lot of love, enthusiasm and fun in making it!
Inspiration for a design happens in a single moment during the day. Whether it is in a meeting
at work, or a sign on a truck, an advertisement in the newspaper or a magazine, a wheel on a
car, a flower…it can be anything. You can see that the shapes I use are traditional and therefore
very accessible. But my use of color is maybe not so very common, it is different.
