In February’s newsletter, I spoke of the Presbytery group of eight
churches, including Cornelius, participating in a five-year program
for Biblical and spiritual growth.
I attended the first meeting of ministers on Feb. 18th. The meeting
involved much prayer to surround us with God’s presence.
Another segment included each speaking of our church and the
vision for Christ that is being implemented among our members.
The purpose of the ministers’ group is for support in the process
and directed Bible study involving Biblical and spiritual growth. I
will be reading new books on leadership, developing member
leaders, spiritual growth and empowering members to make
disciples for Jesus Christ.
Ten to twelve members of Cornelius will be attending their first
quarterly meeting representing this congregation. Each member
needs to be surrounded by our prayers for God’s guidance and a
passion to perform Christ’s mission of making disciples. Their
meeting will involve Bible study regarding spiritual and Biblical
growth.
Our members will be meeting with a total of 80+ members from
the eight church group who will support, motivate and pray for one
another. They will meet at Derita Presbyterian on March 20th.
I request on March 20th, you pray for our members who are
attending this monumental meeting for Jesus Christ. Pray they
will have a passion for making disciples for Christ; they will
empower us to take this new journey for Christ; and they will love
us as we travel together in the next five years.

Losing Weight for the Hungry is back by popular demand – This is a program to help those
in need and to help CPC become a healthier church. CPC has lost 13.6 pounds in the
month of January! It’s not too late to start participating. If you don’t have a number, please
draw one from the basket on the cart outside the choir room and write your number and
starting weight on a slip of paper and drop it in the blue box. On the first Sunday of each
month when we collect canned foods for Ada Jenkins, please bring in the same amount of
food as the amount of weight you lost. Our goal is to help give as much needed food to
those in need as we possibly can.
The After-School Tutoring Program meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from
3:00 – 4:30 pm. Anyone who could help tutor would be greatly appreciated. No amount of
time is too small. If you are interested, please see Amy Morand or call/e-mail the church
office.

Humor From The Pews
There are sign-up sheets on the bulletin board beside the Nursery door. Please look to
see what you would be willing to do. It takes all of us to help make Cornelius Presbyterian
Church the type of Church God wants us to be.
When you get to your wit’s end,
You’ll find God lives there.
People are funny;
They want the front of the bus, the middle of the road, and the back of the church.
Opportunity may knock once,
But temptation bangs on the front door forever.

Quit griping about your church;
If it was perfect, you couldn’t belong.
If a church wants a better pastor,
It only needs to pray for the one it has.

A Moment for Evangelism
The Evangelism Ministry Team kicked off its first meeting of the year with emphasis
on Ministering through the existing programs we already have in place at CPC.
This year we will look to add INTENTIONALITY to ALL activities and programs to
see that Evangelism is at the Heart of all we do at CPC. We will examine what
barriers exist that keep members from utilizing their full God-given potential. Once
we identify these barriers, training will be set up for the congregation to explore, both
individually and as a group, the skills necessary to lead others to Christ.
