CRAFTWORKS POM POM YARN
4 x 75g balls
NEEDLES
A pair 4.00mm (US 6), (UK 8) Knitting Needles
or size that gives correct tension/gauge.
MATERIALS
A Yarn Needle; A large bag of Polyfill.
TENSION/GAUGE
6 sts and 15 rows to 10 cms/4 ins over
garter st, using 4.00mm (US 6), (UK 8)
Knitting Needles.
Note - Correct tension/gauge is essential
for a successful handknit.
ABBREVIATIONS
St/s - stitch/es, K - Knit, RS - right side, WS
- wrong side, garter st - every row knit, beg begin/ning, cont - continue, rep - repeat.
SPECIAL NOTE
For cast on - Work the thumb method when
casting on sts rather than using a pair of
needles, ensure that each stitch has a pom
pom.
When knitting make sure that on each stitch
a pom pom is left at the back of the work, ie.
work each stitch between each pom pom on
the yarn.
For cast/bind off - knit into front of st, then
slip the remainder of the st from left hand
needle onto right hand needle, thus creating
2 sts. Repeat this for all sts across row, thus
doubling the amount of sts, then cast/bind off
sts loosely in usual manner.
CREATE
Using 4.00mm (US 6), (UK 8) Needles, cast
on 25 sts (see special note).
First Section - Knit 3 rows garter st (1st row
is WS).
Beg turnings - When turning, bring yarn
to front of work, slip next st onto right hand
needle, yarn back, slip st back onto left hand
needle, then turn and proceed as instructed,
this avoids holes in work.
4th and 5th rows - Knit to last 3 sts, turn.
6th and 7th rows - Knit to last 5 sts, turn.
8th and 9th rows - Knit to last 7 sts, turn.
Cont turning in this manner working 2 extra
sts at end of rows before turning until the 2
rows of “Knit to last 13 sts, turn” has been
worked.
Next row - Knit to end.
Second Section - ** 1st row - Knit across
all sts to end.
Knit 2 rows garter st.
4th and 5th rows - Knit to last 3 sts, turn.
6th and 7th rows - Knit to last 5 sts, turn.
8th and 9th rows - Knit to last 7 sts, turn.
Cont turning in this manner working 2 extra
sts at end of rows until the 2 rows of “Knit to
last 13 sts, turn” has been worked.
Next row - Knit to end. **
Rep from ** to ** until work measures
approx 125 cms/49 ins through centre of
work, noting to work a complete section.
Cast/bind off knitways.
