Chamber Music Amici
Please join Chamber Music Amici for an extraordinary series of concerts
and activities in May. From our free workshop with Canadian trumpet virtuoso
Guy Few, for middle and high school brass players, to our concerts May 19 and
20, as well as additional solo performances by visiting cellist Jed Barahal of
Portugal, May 21 and 22, it’s going to be a whirlwind of activity.
On May 19 at the Shedd, Guy will perform Baldassare’s piccolo trumpet
concerto, Persichetti’s “The Hollow Men,” and Saint Saëns’s septet for trumpet,
piano, and strings. Also on the program will be Dvořák’s “Bagatelles,” for two
violins, cello, and harmonium. This concert will use an unprecedented eight
musicians: Amici violinists Pilar Bradshaw and Sharon Schuman, Amici violist
Holland Phillips, and guest musicians Tyler Abbot (bass), Jed Barahal (cello),
Julia Brown (harpsichord ), Alexandre Dossin (piano), and Guy Few (trumpet).
