CHAMPION RHYTHMICS SUMMER INTENSIVE PROGRAM
9am-5pm Monday-Friday (half day 9am-1pm)
ABOUT RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS
Rhythmic gymnastics is a beautiful Olympic sport that is often called “The Princess of
All Sports” for its grace and elegance. It combines elements of ballet and dance with
acrobatic skills and apparatus manipulation. Girls perform routines choreographed
to music and accompanied by one of the five apparatuses: rope, hoop, ball, clubs
and ribbon.
This unique sport combines elegance and beauty of a dancer with strength and
coordination of an athlete.
Rhythmic Gymnastics is the best sport for girls! While being a moderately physical
sport, it also teaches girls flexibility, balance, coordination, agility as well as developing
beautiful body lines and gracefulness. Plus it’s fun!
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Our Summer Intensive Program is designed to provide in depth training for ALL aspects
of the sport to help competitive athletes prepare for the competition season, to become
stronger, improve their body skill technique, learn new apparatus skills as well as new
rhythmic acrobatics skills, become a better dancer and overall a more knowledgeable
gymnast. To achieve these goals we developed a program with these
components outlined below:
Body Skills Technique Rhythmic gymnastics has three groups of
body skills: turns, balances and leaps. This part of the program
will focus on improving basic technique of all those skills as well
as learning new body skills gymnasts will need in their competitive
routines. Girls will be challenged to try new exciting skills used by
super star Russian, Ukrainian and Belarus teams.
Flexibility It is one of the main components of rhythmic gymnastics. It is necessary
to be flexible to learn most interesting and exciting rhythmic gymnastics body skills.
Stretching techniques and secrets used by Russian rhythmic gymnastics stars will be
used to take every gymnast’s flexibility to the next level.
Ballet Ballet is essential for gymnasts just like it is for dancers. Our experiences ballet
teachers (as well as invited guests) will provide the training and technique of the highest
caliber to achieve our goals of:
•
•
•
Developing technique, proper placement, strength and poise necessary to
successfully learn rhythmic gymnastics body skills (turns, leaps and balances).
Perfecting arms, core and legs positions to develop correct execution of those
body skills.
Learning to use correct muscle groups, “feeling” your entire body during body skills.
Creating the quality of movement. Musicality.
Dance and Choreography Rhythmic gymnasts use many
different styles of dance in their routines. Girls will learn folk,
jazz, contemporary, ballroom and more dance styles that they
will be able to use for their routines in the upcoming competition
season. Character dance and creative choreography will help
them develop their own unique styles in rhythmic gymnastics.
Strength and Conditioning Gymnasts need to be strong and
develop all muscle groups to perform rhythmic body skills successfully and with ease.
This portion of our training will concentrate on legs, arms and core
training to make it easier to hold correct body positions during
skills and will make gymnasts more powerful and explosive in
their performances.
Apparatus Technique There is no rhythmic without rope, hoop,
ball, clubs and ribbon! It is important to learn proper technique of
handling the apparatus to be able to do most fun and interesting
apparatus tricks. Our superstar coaches will provide the highest quality of apparatus
training to learn most amazing and breathtaking rhythmic tricks.
Rhythmic Acrobatics and Tricks – besides the basic cartwheels, walkovers and rolls
rhythmic gymnastics has the most exciting and interesting acrobatic tricks. Girls will
learn such things as “flying bridge”, “fish flop”, “dive roll” and more things only known
in rhythmic gymnasts.
