A
pril was an exciting month for us as we
welcomed many new business to the
Chandler Chamber! With over fifteen ribbon cuttings
this month, the Chandler Chamber has been an
active part in furthering businesses in our
community. I would like to personally congratulate
all of our new members on their ribbon cutting
celebrations, and thank you for recognizing the
benefits of becoming a stakeholder in the Chandler
Chamber. To our current members, we at the
Chamber appreciate your continual support of the
Chandler Chamber and active participation in our
community.
Our monthly Women In Business event was a huge
success! Keynote speaker, Deborah Gardner
presented “Persuasive Tips to Help Your Business”
and provided unique insight into the business world
to our attendees. Our workshop guests Stephen
Chandler, Al Crusoe and Jude Williams provided
excellent opportunity for discussion and mentoring.
This month’s Women In Business will be Tuesday,
May 19th with keynote speaker, Susan Brooks,
founder of Cookies From Home. Don’t forget to register online and reserve your spot at this
fantastic event!
Micah Miranda, economic development director for
the city of Chandler and Kevin Sullivan, senior vice
president of business attraction and expansion of
the Arizona Commerce Authority spoke to over 100
attendees about business developments in Chandler and Arizona as a whole. Intel also released
their 2014 Economic Impact Study at the luncheon.
Our April 16th Business After Business was a
special experience for attendees as they went on a
trip exploring our very own Downtown Chandler!
By stopping in at twenty of our local downtown
businesses, members had the opportunity to
discover more of what our unique downtown
businesses have to offer!
This month’s Business After Business will be held
Thursday, May 21st at Redline Athletics. Make sure
to register online to let us know you will be there!
Other events to look forward to in May include
Wake Up Chandler, May 13th and Chamber 1o1
May 28th.
The Chandler Chamber is here for you and has
resources available to help you achieve success in a
number of ways. Let’s continue to strive for success
and growth of our fantastic Chandler business
community! For a complete schedule of all

Mayor
Tibshraeny
(jaytibshraeny)
What do you think is the most important economic development focus for Chandler over the next 10 years?
• Diversification of employment industries?
• Redevelopment of obsolete sites and development of vacant property?
• Attraction of entrepreneurs and start-ups?
• Mixed-use developments that bring amenities and jobs closer to where people live?
That’s the question being asked in May as we continue to update our City’s General Plan. State law requires us
to re-adopt our General Plans at least once every 10 years. The current General Plan was adopted by the City
Council and ratified by voters in 2008. We plan to go back to the voters in August 2016. Until then, we are
working to get as much input from the community as possible.
And our monthly poll is just one way to gain feedback and engage our stakeholders. This series of online polls
will aide planners charged with updating the General Plan. To participate, simply visit the project website,
www.chandleraz.gov/GPudate, and click on the “Get Involved” tab. May’s topic id perfect for the business
community and I hope you will take a few minutes to weigh in.
You can also work one-on-one with our City planners during a series of Planning Labs held from 10 a.m. to 2
p.m. on the first Friday of the month at the City’s Museum, located inside the McCullough-Price House, 300
S. Chandler Village Drive, near the mall. You can also submit comments online at www.chandleraz.gov/GPupdate.
The General Plan is a critical document for our future planning efforts. I hope you will share your thoughts
with us.
This month the Council will vote to tentatively adopt the 2015-2016 Fiscal Year Budget (with final adoption
in June). We do not anticipate any increases to the City’s portion of the property tax rate, and we remain cautiously optimistic for the City’s financial future. You can learn more about our efforts here: www.chandleraz.

General Plan
Update
A vision statement that will guide decision making
A plan for managing growth & development,
including all modes of transportation
Strategies to ensure economic viability to ensure
residents’ quality of life
Goals and policies related to economic development,
housing, infrastructure and recreation
An implementation plan to realize the vision
The general plan outlines how and
where the entire city should develop or redevelop over time. It addresses how parks
should develop, identifies employment
areas, where shopping should be located,
how the downtown should continue to
redevelop, and where services should be
located. All of these decisions will impact
how the transportation system will function,
where citizens will live and work, and how
the city’s quality of life will be maintained.
These impact everyone and your ideas and
desires need to be heard.
