Description: Socks are a classic knitted item and knowing how to knit them will keep your
needles busy for years to come. Come and learn how to make socks the right way from our
resident master, Leta. Once you have made your first pair of socks there is no limit to what
you can knit next.

purchase 350yds of DK weight yarn that is suitable for socks (such as Comfort DK, Vintage
DK, Ambiente or Knit Col) and a 32" long US 3 circular needles. You will also need stitch

Needle Felting 101

Description: We will cover the basic principles of needle felting while making several felted
soaps. Learn how to select the best fibers for felting with examples shown, followed by
selecting fibers of your choice (provided by instructor) as the base with which to felt your
soap. We will then move into the actual design process to finish our felted soaps. These
make wonderful gifts especially paired up with some of your hand knit washcloths!
Homework: Purchase a basic felting needle pack (the needles only) and a Touch of Fiber
felting color kit. Bring along 3-4 bars of your favorite soap. Small oval and round bars are
especially nice to felt, although smaller rectangular or square bars will lend well to many
designs. Base fiber for the soap wrap will be provided for class use. This class is geared for
adults and older teens due to the needle safety.

decreases worked on the edges to create a shawl that was designed to mimic the very popular

Homework and Supplies: Approximately 500 yds any weight yarn with a Tunisian hook 2-3
sizes larger than typical for weight of yarn. For example, for a Fingering try G or H, Sport/Dk

Description: One of the most common ways of creating a lacy fabric in crochet is to work stitch
patterns with large chain spaces. It can be a little confusing to start a project with this
technique though when all the chain spaces start to look the same! We will use the Flying
Fans pattern to learn about pattern reading, making your own chart, and a few other
techniques to make sure you start your project off on the right foot!

Description: Sycamore is a beautiful, no-closure vest that would be flattering on anyone. The
body is knit in one piece to the armholes. Fronts and back are then worked separately. The
body of the vest is worked in stockinette, the front bands and neck band are worked in a
knit/purl pattern that is reminiscent of the bark of a tree.
Homework and Supplies: Knit a 4 x 4" stockinette swatch. We are looking for a stitch gauge of

Description: In this 2 hour lesson you will experience using a drum carder, hand cards, 5 pitch
English combs, single/double wool combs, flickers, a diz and making rolags and roving.
Hands-on practice. Sample fiber provided. You will complete a drum carded 3-4 ounce
batt, sample rolags and top to take home to spin or felt. This class is great for both spinners
and felters!
Homework and supplies: All fiber is included in the class fee.
We also offer private and semi-private lessons. Private lessons are $25/hr or $15/half hour. If
you would like to take a semi-private lesson with a friend, the cost is $35.
