Dear Gala Secretary
The Association will be holding its first Licenced “Splash Gala” at the Westcroft Leisure
Centre, Westcroft Road, Carshalton, Surrey, SM5 2TG on Sunday 12th July 2015. Signing in will
commence at 2.00, the warm up at 2.30 with event at 3pm.
The event is being run to give some of the Association’s Members’ swimmers access to a fully
constituted “gala” that would not normally compete at such an event. There will be no medals or
trophies awarded as this is not a Championship event.
Details of events and conditions of entry, together with entry forms are enclosed.
The closing date for entries is midnight Friday 30 rd June 2015. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE
ACCEPTED.
There is no entry fee as the event is fully supported by the London Borough of
Sutton Swimming Association.

Conditions of Entry
Open to:

Members of Clubs or Organisations affiliated to the London Borough of Sutton
Swimming Association, including the London Borough of Sutton Primary Schools
Swimming Association.

Members of SLM Swim School based in the London Borough of Sutton*.
In the event of over-subscription the promoter reserves the right to limit entries.
* See condition 2 below.
Promoters Conditions
1. Those entering and providing an ASA registration number will participate for
licenced times.
2. Non-ASA members will compete in separate heats of each event and will have
their times recorded and published for information purposes only.
3. Seeding of heats will be slowest to fastest throughout and be based on
submitted entry times. Swimmers without entry times will be seeded in the first
heats.
4. All age groups will be swum together.
5. Teams should attend with a suitable number of ASA compliant poolside
managers / coaches (The ASA required ratio is 1:10).
6. The minimum age is eight years of age on the day of the event.

SAFETY AT WESTCROFT LEISURE CENTRE
1. STARTING
All swimmers in LBSSA Splash Gala at Westcroft Leisure Centre should note the
following:
a.
The height of all starting blocks is 0.75 metres above the surface of the water.
b.
At the deep end the water depth is 1.8 metres.
c.
At the shallow end the water depth is 1 metre.
It is the responsibility of all swimmers, club coaches and team managers to ensure that
all swimmers are competent to undertake a competitive start under the above
conditions. Please note all starts will be from the deep end of the pool.
Alternatively swimmers are reminded that they may start from the side or in the
water. In the event of a false start, swimmers should perform a safe entry and not fall
into the water.
2. WARM UP
Swimmers, coaches and team managers must ensure that they (and swimmers in their
charge) take no action that would endanger themselves or others. The instructions of
the Warm up Marshals or others in authority must be obeyed immediately. No diving
at the shallow end of pool.
3. GENERAL SAFETY
a.
Everyone attending an LBSSA event must familiarise themselves with the
locations of the emergency exits.
b.
Anyone observing anything they consider to be a safety hazard must report it to
the Referee and/or any other Gala official.
c.
Everyone attending the Gala must take all steps to ensure their own safety and
the safety of others.
4. GENERAL
a.
Please note that depending on entries received, events may be combined; this
may include mixed sex races.
