Continental Knitting with Ann Kelly

This style of knitting, sometimes called “picking”, is often preferred as it is the more efficient
method, requiring the shortest number of specific hand-motions per stitch. In other words, it’s
faster. Learn to knit more efficiently and maybe even faster using this knitting method.

Crochet Basics

Skill Level: Beginner
In this class, you will learn how to hold yarn, make a chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble
crochet, increase, decrease, measure gauge, and most importantly, how to read instructions and complete the finishing. You
will be able to put these stitches together to make something beautiful. NOTE TO LEFT HANDERS: Since crochet is a
two-handed process which uses both hands equally, all beginning crocheters feel awkward. Karen will teach you to hold
the hook in your right hand with the work in your left hand. Learning this method eliminates the need to reverse
instructions and enables you to enjoy all the beautiful patterns equally.

you will have a beautiful heirloom quality afghan!! The “Building Blocks” instruction booklet is
fully supported by online video tutorials.

Kauni Rainbow Cardigan with Linda Lewis

This attractive fair isle sweater is achieved by utilizing the changes of color which occur in the
unusual Kauni EQ colorway yarn. The garment is knitted in the round with a simple fair isle pattern,
then steeked (or cut) to achieve the cardigan. You will be amazed by the beauty of the yarn and by
the fun you will have as this sweater comes together. You will also learn corrugated ribbing in this
class. Prerequisite: Existing knowledge of two-handed fair isle knitting or Ann Kelly’s Fair Isle
Headband class.

Have you always admired the look of lace knitting but been afraid to try it yourself? This is your
opportunity to learn lace knitting with Tracy. The Girasole pattern by Jared Flood, is a traditional
lace shawl or blanket, depending upon what weight yarn you choose. Thick yarn and big needles
create a cozy blanket for chilly winter nights on the couch. DK or sock weight yarn and smaller
needles will give you a beautiful shawl to wear over your shoulders this spring--your choice. Both
are spectacular when finished. You will learn how to knit lace by following a chart. The pattern is

your project before you even cast on. This class will introduce the basics of seaming, shaping, and

"Magic Looping" Your Double Points Projects

Have you found managing 4-5 double-point needles annoying, fussy, and/or confusing? Ever
wanted to simplify the whole knitting-in-the-round process, regardless of the project (hat, sleeve, or
sock)? Then the "magic loop" method is for you!! Bring in your project, or we will demonstrate
one for you. It is empowering!!!! Never use double points again—unless you want to!!!
Community Service Project
Black Sheep Yarn Shop has chosen the START (Striving to Achieve Recovery Together) Program as
our community service project. One of the objectives of the START Program is to teach knitting to
women incarcerated at the Baltimore County Detention Center. At this time, Black Sheep Yarn Shop
is collecting any type of yarn and/or needles for these women. Thank you for supporting this endeavor.

Customer are asked to purchase materials for classes from the Black Sheep Yarn Shop.
Please purchase and have your yarn wound prior to date of your class.
Payment for all classes is required upon registration.
Class Registration closes one week before the class begins.
Cancellation Policy:
• You may cancel a class 7 days before a class begins and the tuition may be applied to another class, to store
credit, or for private lessons.
• Black Sheep will cancel classes without a minimum of three students. Tuition may be refunded, applied to
another class, to store credit, or private lessons.
Missed Classes:
If you are unable to attend all class sessions, makeup sessions are available at the rate of $30 an hour.
Private knitting and crochet lessons:
One-on-one instruction is available at a convenient time for you and your instructor. The cost is $15 per half
hour and $30 per hour. Please call to set up an appointment.
Finishing Work is available for $20 per hour.
