With an accomplished career focused on advising professional services and technology firms in the national security, defense and information security markets, Mr. Kaufman oversees the Firm’s activities to ensure clients benefit from the full breadth of the Firm’s capabilities. Mr. Kaufman joined The Chertoff Group in 2010 and established the Firm’s investment banking subsidiary, Chertoff Capital. Under his leadership, Chertoff Capital has emerged as the leading investment banking advisor to companies in the defense, national security and cybersecurity sectors. In his role as Head of M&A, he leverages his 15 years of investment banking experience to guide the Firm’s clients through the strategies and critical decisions required to successfully complete an acquisition, sale, or recapitalization. Mr. Kaufman also serves as a strategy advisor to the Firm’s clients in areas related to both organic and external growth. During his career, Mr. Kaufman has advised on over 50 merger, acquisition, private placement, and corporate divestiture transactions worth over $3.0 billion in deal value. Recent examples include the acquisition of Six3 Systems by CACI International, the sale of Signal Innovations Group to BAE Systems, and the acquisition of QinetiQ North America by Vencore. Prior to joining The Chertoff Group, Mr. Kaufman was a Senior Vice President at BB&T Capital Markets | Windsor Group. He began his career with Jefferies Quarterdeck. Mr. Kaufman received a MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, and a BS from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, where he now serves as an Adjunct Professor of Finance.
