POSITION: LOCATION: Analyst, Business Strategy Menlo Park and Washington, DC Job Description The Chertoff Group is currently hiring analysts for its Washington, DC and San Francisco offices. Chertoff Group analysts support a wide variety of engagements with corporate clients, including market research, competitive analysis, transaction due diligence, and strategy consulting projects. Analysts apply creative problem-solving skills, along with performing research and analysis, to help deliver solutions to clients. Analysts will have the opportunity to work directly with former senior officials from the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, and Intelligence Community in developing innovative solutions on behalf of clients. Analysts are expected to build foundational knowledge of the cybersecurity, defense, and technology sectors in addition to honing a diverse set of skills as they work on each client engagement. Successful analysts will be given opportunities to further develop leadership skills and may have opportunities to work in other Chertoff Group office locations. Position Responsibilities: Analysts will be expected to perform the following functions within the firm: Conduct in-depth, detailed research on budgets, procurement, industries, technology development, and economic data related to national security issues; Perform competitive assessments, technology evaluations, and financial analysis on companies and organizations in the defense and security sectors worldwide; Gather and synthesize industry information from multiple research sources, such as industry reports, trade publications, etc., and work with subject matter experts to validate industry information; and, Travel domestically and internationally in support of client engagements and to attend conferences. Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with expected completion in the spring of 2015; Strong internship experience in consulting, technology, finance, business operations, public policy, or research; Demonstrated interest in the defense or technology industries is important, but prior work experience in the space is not required; Experience performing analysis using Microsoft Excel and preparing presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint; Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple projects concurrently, and manage rapidly changing assignments; Experience performing research and writing critical analyses; Ability to work well independently and as part of a team; Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities; Excellent verbal and writing skills; and, Required to be a US Citizen.
