Welcome to the fourth annual Children First/CIS “Are You Smarter Than An
Elementary Student?” event. This promises to be a great night of friendly
competition between new and returning teams! Proceeds from the evening will
benefit Children First/CIS, a local non-profit empowering children and families
living in poverty in Buncombe County.
Teams from area business & organizations will test their knowledge with trivia
questions on current events, pop culture, geography, science, and more! But
you will win more than just bragging rights, as the top teams will win great
prizes from area businesses, resorts and restaurants! All teams win a special
prize just by participating!

Children First/Communities In Schools
Children First’s mission is to empower children and their
families to reach their full potential through advocacy,
education and services. The mission of Communities in
Schools is to surround students with a community of support,
empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
Children First/CIS provides services to children, youth and
families who are living in poverty in Buncombe County. These
services include Success Coordinators at Johnston & Emma
Elementary School, the Family Resource Center at Emma,
Project POWER/AmeriCorps and three afterschool Learning
Centers.
Along with our direct services, we also work at a local, state
and federal public policy level to ensure that legislative
decisions are made to support children & families living in
poverty.

What You Need to Know!
• Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Beer will be available at suggested donation
amounts, so grab a brew and complimentary refreshments, mingle, and
raise challenges to your opponents!
• Trivia competition begins at 6:30 p.m.
• Bring your whole family! A playground is available on site for the children
of participating team members.
• Team fees are $250 per team. Up to 6 people can participate on a team.
• Show off your team pride and dress up in costume!
• All team members will receive a commemorative gift.
• For the team that raises the most additional funds, you will receive a
GRAND PRIZE! Plus, you will ensure that many local children will
receive much-needed services and resources!
