For More Information: Fran Strebing 309.663.7384 309.275.5054 (Bloomington, IL /April 7, 2015/8:05 a.m.)….This morning, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at approximately 12:15 a.m. Peoria air traffic control notified Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority of an aircraft due back to the Central Illinois Regional Airport that had failed to close its flight plan. The aircraft, a twin engine C414A Cessna Chancellor, left Indianapolis, Indiana a little after midnight EST. Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority personnel responded to the airport to determine if the aircraft had landed on airport and had not notified Peoria air traffic control. A thorough search inside the fence on airport property determined that the aircraft was not on airport. Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority, Bloomington Fire Department, Bloomington Police, Normal Police and the McLean County Sheriff’s Department began to conduct a search in the surrounding area and the crashed aircraft was located in a farm field on the ground approximately one mile east and north of the airport between 3:00 and 3:30 a.m. RESPONDING AGENCIES: Bloomington Fire Department Bloomington Police Department Normal Police Department McLean County Sheriff’s Department McLean County Coroner’s Office Towanda Fire Department McLean County Emergency Management Agency Illinois State Police Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority The FAA and the NTSB are en-route to the scene. Once the aircraft has been released it will be brought back to CIRA and be secured in a hangar during the accident investigation process. The BloomingtonNormal Airport Authority has no other information at this time. A press conference will be held at noon today at the McLean County Sheriff’s Department, 104 W. Front Street, Bloomington, Il in the Sheriff’s conference room. There will be no impact on regular airport operations. ## Carl G.
