Job Description
Title: President
Organization: California Citrus Research Program
Location: Visalia, California
Reports to: Board of Directors, composed of citrus growers, and to the California
Secretary of Food and Agriculture through the Marketing Branch

The Citrus Research Board, located in Visalia, California, is seeking qualified candidates to
fill the position of President of the Board. The position will be filled upon selection of the
most qualified candidate.
Summary: The Citrus Research Program is a grower-funded and grower-directed
program established in 1968 under the California Marketing Act as a mechanism for
enabling the state's citrus producers to sponsor and support needed scientific and
technical research to further the goals of the California Citrus Industry. The program is
administered by the Citrus Research Board, which is commonly referred to as simply
"CRB". The President directs and manages the organization towards its mission
personally or through subordinate managers.
The President must convey a strong sense of order and leadership as well as have the
ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. In addition, the President must
have the ability to interact effectively and in a positive manner with the CRB board of
directors, the scientific community, growers, the local community, the Department of
Food and Agriculture (CDFA), other public agencies, and a board staff of 14
individuals. These interactions occur in a fast paced dynamic environment, often with
a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
Duties of the President: The duties of the President include, but are not limited to,
the following activities:


Manage the overall affairs of the program as defined by its governing laws and
policies
Ensure compliance with all legal requirements and CDFA policies











Oversee all contracts and grant agreements of the Board
Manage and supervise all employees of the program
Maintain financial viability of the program
Publish required Board notices and industry communications
Assemble, compile, and analyze all information necessary in connection
with the performance of the official duties of the Board
Certify all meeting minutes and actions taken by the Board
Administer all policies and actions that the Board adopts and undertakes
Interact with the scientific community
Manage an annual budget of approximately $11 Million
Represent the Board and the program on state and national committees as directed
by the Board
Perform other duties as directed by the Board or the Secretary
Requirements for the Position:
 4 year degree from an accredited university
 10-15 years of managerial experience
 Excellent leadership, communication and decision making skills
 Strong personnel management skills and experience with the ability to manage staff
at all levels of experience and education
