Do you have questions about Canvas? The FAQ Center is prepared
to detail all Canvas Training Options, contrast Canvas with
Blackboard, detail resources, and address any additional questions
you may have so you can get started!

showcase will offer a first-hand perspective from faculty actively

Wondering how to get started in Canvas? Starting from scratch?
Importing Blackboard course materials? This session will help you
determine the better option for you and also provide time for you to
get started.

This session will cover strategies for structuring and organizing your
course content in Canvas. Functionality, settings, and tools related
to modules, page creation, assessments, discussion boards, and
quizzes will be demonstrated. If you plan to work inside of Canvas
during the session, you will need to bring your own device.

Learn tips and strategies for using Canvas to web-enhance your
course. Topics include designing your home page, creating a
syllabus, uploading files, and setting up the gradebook.

This session explores how to use the test creation tool Test Gen to
create course assessments that upload into Canvas.

A five week Canvas course was piloted during the Spring 2015
semester through the Free for Teachers website. Come hear
feedback from the students regarding how Canvas compares with
Blackboard and their overall impression of a Canvas
experience. Additionally, focus sessions with students have been
held to review the design of my 10-week summer course. Hear
student feedback and student tips regarding the design and setup of
courses in Canvas.

During the Essentials Part 1 training, an overview of the Canvas
interface is provided. By the end of this session, you should be able
to build a page, set your course home page, and publish your
course. Topics include the rich text editor, notifications, calendar,
files, pages, and assignments.

During Essentials Part 2, attention is building modules, integrating
multimedia content, and creating assignments, discussions, and quiz
items. This session also includes course copy, the gradebook and
Speedgrader functionality. By the end of this session, you should
be able to build an entire lesson.

Canvas Time Line
Canvas has been selected as the new Learning Management System to replace the
Blackboard contract which expires August 31, 2015. CITT Faculty Professional Development
has developed self-paced training on Canvas. Additional resources provided to faculty
include on-campus open lab sessions, virtual Lync Q&A sessions, Faculty Canvas Champions
on each campus, CITT Instructional Designers, and the CITT website.

grades. Grade columns are only generated when an assignment

Speedgrader will allow instructors to grade or provide
feedback on all submissions in one place. Displays submitted
assignments, grading rubrics, and media comments. Can
download submitted assignments or annotate submitted files.
Students can view grades as percentages.
