Head protection in the U.S. commonly takes the form of protective
helmets, Type I (top impact) or Type II (lateral impact) that meet the
requirements of ANSI Z89.1-1997. Type I helmets are designed to protect
from top impact and penetration, while the Type II helmets give lateral
impact and penetration protection.

Cooler and More Comfortable
V-Gard Protective Caps and Hats from MSA consist of a polyethylene shell and suspension
system working together as a protective system. V-Gard headwear features advanced styling in
either cap or hat styles, with the cap available in three sizes: small (6–7 1/8), standard
(6 1/2–8) and large (7–81/2).
• V-Gard Caps and Hats meet or exceed the applicable requirements for a Type I helmet
(top impact) and Class E, as outlined in ANSI Z89.1-2003
• For Lateral Protection and Emergency Response Applications, please ask for the
MSA Vanguard™ II Helmets. These are specifically designed as Type II Helmets.
• Swing style suspension allows V-Gard wearer to quickly and easily switch wearing hard hat
forwards or backwards.

requirements.

• Unique, smooth crown reduces the risk of impacting objects being trapped by ribs, ridges or slots.
• Head size is selected via a convenient rear-located mechanism. The headband can be tilted to a comfortable angle while the cap remains level, and can
also be raised, lowered, or moved front-to-rear within the shell.
• Technically advanced suspension has eight load bearing points, twice as many as ordinary caps to stabilize and balance the cap. On impact, the energyabsorbing points dissipate force by reducing it into smaller increments and spreading it over a greater area.
• The industry’s only 360° sweatband is padded for comfort and perforated to allow air to circulate for a cooling effect. Unlike partial, sewn-in sweatbands, model S-2F is easily removed. The sweatband is interchangeable with model 3R ratchet headband for extreme working conditions.
Fibre-Metal SuperEight styles are designed for when a welding helmet, faceshield, or goggle are mounted on caps, workers can convert their cap from the
normal wearing position (and back) with the patented Swingstrap™ with having to remove, reverse and reinstall the suspension headband. All FibreMetal Thermoplastic protective hats and caps are SEI certified Type I, Class E to ANSI Z89.1-2003 in both the forward and reverse positions.

without removing the cap. Ratchet band anchors the
cap comfortably during extreme activity, high winds or

Includes 3-S Swingstrap Reversible Ratchet Headband.
Allows the wearer to convert from the normal wearing position to the reverse wearing position (and back)

Non-vented goggles are just that--lenses and frames with no holes for air
