SUBJECT:
Installation of a Marked Crosswalk on Cousteau Place – Budget Adjustment
Recommendation
Approve the attached Budget Adjustment that appropriates funds to install a marked crossing on
Cousteau Place, per the request of the Schilling Robotics management.
Fiscal Impact
The cost of installation of the crosswalk is $12,347.50 including design, administration and
inspection cost. Schilling Robotics Company is paying for 100% of the cost of this project.
Council Goal(s)
Provide a safe and efficient circulation system.
Background and Analysis
The management at Schilling Robotics requested a marked crossing on Cousteau Place to
improve safety for their employees crossing the street to and from work, and agreed to pay for
the cost of improvements. The proposed improvements include upgraded access ramps,
crosswalk marking and associated signs, as shown on the attached Exhibit A. City staff designed
and bid the crossing improvements. We received three bids for the project. Schilling Robotics
selected the lowest bidder and has delivered the check to cover the cost of construction with the
addition of 10% to cover the design, administration, and inspection cost.
Staff will issue the contractor’s authorization to proceed upon approval of the attached Budget
Adjustment.
