09 NOVEMBER 2013 BA (HONS) TEXTILES AND SURFACE DESIGN UK Hand Knitting Association Awards 2013 Innovative design for fashion and the interior Judith Watson (Knitted Textiles 2013) won the Gold Award in the Graduate category of the UK Hand Knitting Association's Knitted Textile Awards 2013. Knitted Textiles Judith's Aran panelled dress, hand-tufted with Swiss darned patches emulating carpet, offers a touch of ‘rug’ to playfully complement the Aran adorned carpet which is reminiscent of a period ceiling with a splash of traditional design. Surface Design Printed Textiles The Textiles and Surface Design course at Buckinghamshire New University has an international reputation for design and making. Congratulations Judith! The first year provides a broad experience of Knitted Textiles, Printed Textiles and Surface Design. Students choose one of these specialisms for the second and third year of study. The course encompasses traditional and digital making processes, and prepares students for industry through design competitions, work experience and live projects. Housed in the spacious and well equipped Red Shed design studios and workshops, the course provides an exciting environment for students to develop an individual approach to textiles and surface design.
