row.
Rows 2 and 4: K the k, p the p.
Rows 5 and 7: P4, k4, rep across row.
Rows 6 and 8: K the k, p the p.
Repeat Rows 1-8 for Basketweave
Pattern.
PONCHO (Make 2 rectangles)
Cast on 44 (48, 52, 56) sts. Work in
Basketweave pattern stitch for 14
(14½, 15, 15½)”. Bind off.
FINISHING
Sew cast-on edge of one rectangle to
the right lower side of second
rectangle. Sew bound-off edge of
second rectangle to right lower side of
first rectangle. This will leave an
opening for the head.
HAT
Cast on 80 (88) sts.
Work in Basketweave Pattern stitch for
12 rows.
Row 13 (6-12 month size only)
Change to Stockinette St and work
until piece measures 5” from cast-on.
Row 13 (12-24 month size only)
Change to Stockinette St, increasing 2
sts evenly across row – 90 sts. Work
until piece measures 5½” from cast-on.
Dec Row (RS) *K8, k2tog, repeat from
* across row.
Next Row (WS) Purl.
Dec Row *K7, k2tog, repeat from *
across row.
Next Row Purl.
Repeat Dec Row every other row,
leaving 1 less st between the
decreases until 8 sts remain.
Next Row K2tog, k4, k2tog – 6 sts
remain.
Work in St st on these 6 sts for 3½”.
Next Row (RS) K2tog across row – 3
sts.
P3tog – 1 st. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Sew back seam, including tail. Tie tail
at top of Hat into a knot close to crown
of Hat.
