US# 8 DPNs, OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Approx. 4oz of Polyfil OR choice stuffing material.

Gauge- 4 sts & 6 rows = 1” in Stockinette st
Diamond Texture Stitch
Row 1 (RS)- *K3, P1, repeat from * to end of row
Row 2 & 4 (WS)- Purl across.
Row 3- Knit across.
Row 5- K1, *P1, K3, repeat from * to last two sts, K2.
Row 6 & 8- Purl across.
Row 7- Knit.
Repeat Rows 1-8 to form pattern.
INNER EARFLAPS (make two)
Using US# 8 needles, OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE, CO 16 sts.
Row 1(RS)- Knit across.
Row 2(WS)- Purl across.
Row 3- K1, M1, knit to last st, M1, K1. (18 sts)
Row 4- P1, M1, purl to the last st, M1, P1. (20 sts)
Repeat Rows 1- 4 once more (24 sts). Work in Stockinette st until piece measures
approximately 3” from Row #4, ending on a WS row.
Row 1 (RS)- Knit across.
Row 2 (WS)- Purl across.
Row 3- K1, SSK, knit to last three sts, K2tog, K1. (22 sts)
Row 4- P1, P2tog, purl to the last three sts, SSP, P1. (20 sts)
Repeat Rows 1-4 once more (16 sts). Work in Stockinette st for two more rows, binding off
on the second row.
HEADBAND
Using US# 8 needles, OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE, provisionally cast-on 16
sts.
Earflap#1
Work Rows 1 & 2 of Diamond Texture Stitch.
Row 3- K1, M1, knit to the last st, M1, K1. (18 sts)
Row 4- P1, M1, purl to the last st, M1, P1. (20 sts)
Row 5- K1, P1, *K3, P1, repeat from * to the last two sts, K2.
Row 6- Purl across.
Row 7- Repeat Row #3 (22 sts)
Row 8- Repeat Row #4 (24 sts)
Work in Diamond Texture Stitch until piece measures approximately 3” from Row 8, ending
on Row 2 of Texture Stitch.
Row 3(RS)- K1, SSK, knit to the last three sts, K2tog, K1. (22 sts)
Row 4(WS)-P1, P2tog, purl to the last three sts, SSP, P1. (20 sts)
Row 5- K1, P1, *K3, P1, repeat from * to the last two sts, K2.
Row 6- Purl across.
Row 7- Repeat Row #3 (18 sts)
Row 8- Repeat Row #4 (16 sts)
Bottom StrapWork in Diamond Texture Stitch until piece measures approximately 3.5” from Row
8, ending on Row 2 of Texture Stitch.
Earflap#2Work as for Earflap #1.
Top StrapWork as for Bottom Strap.
FINISHING
Using US #8 DPNs, OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE, remove the provisional
cast-on and slide 16 sts on to one of the DPNs. Slide the 16 active sts that comprise the
Bottom Strap on to another DPN. Using the three-needle bind off technique bind off and
connect the top of Earflap #1 (Cast on edge) to the Top Strap (active edge). Make sure not to
twist the piece when connecting!
Using a tapestry needle, attach the Inner Earflaps to the WS of the Earflap sections of
the Headband. The WS of each piece should be facing each other. Just before sewing the
seam completely shut, fill the pocket made with approximately 2 oz of Polyfil stuffing (or
your choice stuffing) so that the pocket is full but not bulging. Repeat this process for the
other Earflap.
Weave in loose ends.
