Hot Pads Materials: 38 Peg Long Loom (Hot Pad / Pot Handle Mitt) Spool Loom (Handle) Cotton Yarn (About 6 – 9 oz) Loom Hook Yarn Needle Scissors Note(s): The hot pad is worked using two strands of yarn held together as one throughout. The instructions make a hot pad approximately six inches square. To make the hot pad larger or smaller, change the number of stitches cast on and rows worked. o 2 pegs = 1” o 6 rows = 1” Instructions: 1) Holding two strands of yarn together, cast on 12 pairs of pegs for Double Knit Stockinette. Repeat twice. (You should have wrapped your pegs three times and have 6 loops on teach peg.) a. This way gives you a much tighter knit and allows for there to be no holes in your hot pad when stretched. 2) Work 36 rows in Double Knit Stockinette or until the hot pad is square. a. Only knit two loops (one set) over, so there should four loops (two sets) left. Then you wrap your pegs again and knit off. 3) When your hot pad is long enough, knit once more leaving only set of loops on the pegs. 4) Bind off the last row and complete the Cast On Row following directions for Double Knit Stockinette Stitch. Weave in ends. Hanger Loop: 1. Work 2 stitch I-cord for three inches on the spool loom. 2. Bind off the I-cord and attach the end to the corner of the hot pad. 3.
